Robin Memorial (Batman) Custom Diorama / Playset
Custom #:48343
Name:Robin Memorial
Contest:Museum Of Curiosities
Custom Type:Diorama / Playset
Toy Series:Batman
Creator:Maelstrom
Date Added:March 25, 2013
Base Figure:DC Superheroes Robin
Height:8.00 inches
Completion Time:15.00 hours
I had an old DC Superheroes Robin which really did not match my DCUC collection in articulation, so I cut off the head, legs, and arms. Although the DCSH Robin is modelled after Tim Drake, I liked the build of the figure and I just changed it up a bit to be somewhat a mishmash of several other old Robin costumes. I wanted LED lights to give this memorial a ghostly effect, so I used two "Halo" Cortana bases The memorial can be lit from both the top and the bottom (although it is pictured only lit from the top). I used a glass candle guard for the clear cylinder. The cap and floor bases are made of foam core and painted in hammered metal finish. I really tried to get the effect that the mask, gloves, and outfit were encased as if they were floating. To do this, I screwed the boots into the base, then attached the cape to the boots, which in turn supports the torso. The gloves were simply attatched to the hips and the mask was cut from a ML Winter soldier and suspended above the collar by a small piece of clear blisterpack plastic.

Cool design, I like how all the costume elements are "floating" in the air. The lighting effects are neat-o too. Great tribute to Batman's sidekick!
