What can I say? I started this figure over a year ago and just got around to finishing it. Why so long? Well, a bit of engineering went into it. You see, I wanted this to be a fully articulated version of Dolph Lundgren, not just a stand-in-one-upright-position figure (statue). When DCUC came out with Samurai, I knew I had my base!

Getting high quality images of the costume details was difficult but I finally managed to do so. Sculpting these details in a way that didn't hinder the articulation was another task all in itself. I sculpted the shoulder pads in the following way:

- put tape onto the shoulder areas and sculpted the pads with Apoxie Sculpt
- removed them once they cured and then painted them

Once that was done, I had to figure out a way to attach them to the upper BACK of the figure so when the arms are raised, they raise up too. So they are totally separate from the shoulders. This method helped me figure out how to make the shoulder pauldrons for my upcoming MAN OF STEEL Jor-el figure.

As for the boots, shin guards, chest emblem and loin coth details, it's all sculpted rather than just doing leather soft goods. My desire was for this to look as factory as possible.

Also had to sculpt the sword from scratch and then made a two part sheeth for it which I also had to anchor to the back, underneath the cape.He also has a sculpted knife sheeth on his right leg with a scratch made knife (not painted yet). Was gonna try to do the gun and holster, but got burned out trying and didn't have holster or gun fodder.

As for the head, it's Samurai, just modified the jawline, the forehead, and sculpted the hair. It's not perfect, but it's recognizable as Dolph.

All in all I'd say it's a big win.
