A Request from an facebook friend. The Fury was started on the 30th January 2013 and finished on the 14th of March 2013. Initially this was going to be an articulated action figure but as the project progressed the customer decided he liked the idea of a statue of the Fury with Captain Britain defeated at his feet. He provided me with a reference shot which he wanted me to follow as closely as possible. I think I did it pretty good justice. Here's the recipe for the Fury vs Captain Britain. The fury = House of the dead Hydrophant, completely sculpted over. Cannon arm = sculpted from scratch, the smaller barrels are pieces of an ice armour he-man staff. The smoke tendril is hot glue and the wire from it is headphone wire. Right arm = sculpted again with some Gundam sword handles for the extra barrels. Lower legs = Dr.who Werewolf, completely sculpted over and reshaped Captain Britain body, arms and upper legs = DCUC Green lantern, almost completely sculpted over to rid him of articulation. Lower legs=ML Captain Britain, sculpted over again. Head = ML Captain Britain. Hands = DCUC Mercury, heated up reformed then dunked in ice cold water to make them less rigid. The base is made from wood and features a panel from the Crooked world story. I glued the panel on then took an identical panel, cut bits of it out and stuck it to foam before gluing that over the original panel to create a 3d ish effect. The big hill in the corner is sculpt sand and a whole ton of superglue (seriously I used 12 tubes on it). The white area on the left is to signify "unspace" a parallel dimension where nothing exists (at least that's my limited understanding of unspace anyway). I cut bits of foam to the shape of some of the panels in the book just to make it less flat and boring. I'll admit at first I had no idea whatsoever about this character but as the project progressed I grew to love his football shaped head and will be looking to pick up the Crooked world book some time soon. The main challenge in this project was getting rid of the articulation, it was a lot tougher than i thought it would be. I had great fun making this statue and learning a little about him along the way, apparently this guy even gets a mention in Alice in Wonderland. Hope you enjoy and I hope the customer enjoys it too. ![]() |
