Character played by Russell Crowe in the movie The Gladiator. The base was Perseus (Neca Clash of Titans) sculpted with epoxy (such as changes in the face, chest armor, shoulder, shield and helmet). It was quite difficult to sculpt embossed details of armor and shield, and even harder to sculpt the helmet removable, but in the end, even that was good... I just thought he was not much like Russell, but keeping the helmet on the head until it passes... The shield is the Taskmaster and the sword (or gladius) of Perseus himself. Painting with matte vinylic paints and silver enamel. With much drybrushing technique.
Holy Guacamole! This is simply astounding! While the base figure doesn't look much like Crowe (as you said) it works great as more of a stylized graphic novel type Maximus. As far as I'm concerned the embossing work alone is enough to secure you top honors add in the incredible helmet and you may have a winner here.

I was happy with third place in the contest.
