(i had this creepy guy made a long time ago, the only reason why i didn't upload him was that i had not made the base yet c: )

i saw mantis on sale for a good price (a price that could be considered "cheap" only here) even though he wasn't on the best condition, he had both wrists articulations broken (so both were glued)the straps from the front and the back broken and the mask missing, i didn't know that there were clear variants of some MGS figures by Mcfarlane so when i got him the next question came to my mind:

do i paint him completely? (that was the only way to make an epoxy mask without him looking bad)

or do i leave him like that?

the problem was that he looked really cool being "clear" but on the other hand without his mask the head sculpt looks really bad because the straps from the mask are sculpted on his head!

so in a metal gear induced hallucination, i realized that the best option was to paint half of him, to make him look like he was vanishing or something like that.



so i painted him with various shades of gray trying to fade from a darker to a lighter color and the straps where painted with a glossy black, i repaired the wrists with a couple of nails and the broken straps (the one on the stomach and the one on the lower back) with a piece of plastic from a bottle, the mask was sculpted with epoxy and the eyes have plastic painted orange with a marker, i like the mask better this way since you can see the eyes now whereas with the original mask there's no hole in the mask eyes. the base was made with wood as i usually do and was painted trying to get that marble look that the floor has on the game in the room you fight mantis. by the way the mask is removable.
