Ha, ok well here goes, this is more of a description of how I see it all rather then a backstory:
Ok, so far I only have the Alpha Hunter done, I plan to do a few more sometime in the future, all original designs but with little influences from other characters in the wrold of fiction here and there.
The main inspiration in all of this is the Monster Squad from Predator Conrete Jungle. In the game they are these humans who have either volunteered or been pushed into cybrog augmentation. Basically they have become really powerful soldiers sporting guns and whatnot that attack your main character in one level.
Now reinvisioned by me. My Hunters are humans who have been augmented both genetically and physically. Some were normal humans, others mutants but all have been taken into the Hunter Squad and further transformed into just that, Hunters. Basically when things get bad, they get sent in. The fictional world I thought up for them is kinda a cross between a Van Hellsing/Marvel dealio. There are superpowered humans but they don't go around in tights or capes, usually they are just normal people, plus there are things that go bump in the night-werewolves, vampires, wendigos, etc.
So here you have a world with not only creatures that lurk in the shadows but also superpowered humans and not all of them use their powers for the best cause(kinda like Smallvilles meteor freaks). Some may rob banks but you get the more then occasional guy or gal with a messiah complex and the want to cause some general hell.
So in response to this, the government of the main country decides to covertly deal with these threats with the Hunter Squads-groups of augmented humans and mutants to deal with these threats-usually with extreme predjudice.
So far all I have done is my Alpha Hunter. I envision him as more of a mobile unit. As you can see, he doesn't travel very heavily, his only weapon is his arm gun.
I see him as once a normal man. His right arm, previously blown off, replaced with a nearly indestructible robotic arm equipped iwth machine gun and capable of extreme acts of strength, at least with the right arm. Due to a serum injected into him(this serum responds differently to different hosts), he has gained more durability(pretty much standard among all hosts), much faster reflexes, speed and agility, along with increasing his other senses-though all units gain this with the injection, his developed more and has bypassed the other units making him faster then the others. He is also highly skilled in hand to hand combat-he embodies the perfect scout or assassin.
His mask is a strong metal, no fancy gadgets or anything, entirely ornamental. Lightweight but strong, it hides his personna and protects his face.
So far, thats kinda what I've got in place until I get some other units.
The best part is I can make completly random, original characters and add them to the Hunter Squads-well as long as they look semi robotic/para-military like
