Custom #:44734
Name:Drissi (Classics Style the New Adventures of He-Man)
Custom Type:Action Figure
Toy Series:Masters of the Universe
Creator:hunterknightcustoms
Date Added:November 27, 2012
Base Figure:She-ra
Height:6.50 inches
Continuing my line of NA characters, I just had to make Drissi. She looked so innocent that I had to enhance her looks a bit , so I modded her dress with some sculpted designs painted in gold, sculpted boot tops and sash ,plus a resculpted face. As you can tell she was made mostly using the She-ra buck but I modded the skirt so she can do wide stances. The skirt won’t tear all the way up since a round hole was made to avoid that. To top her looks, she needed a weapon, At first I thought of giving her a staff but it just looked too plain…so instead I gave her this javelin, so now she looks more like a sort of Gabrielle of the new adventures! Thanks for checking her out!

I love this one, brother! Cutting circles at the end of the skirt slits is genius!

Yeah, that's an old leather worker's trick as well. I used to do that all the time with the bodices and motorcycle stuff I used to make before the fire took all my tools and leather stockpile. It works great if your not using a grommet or going for a more rustic look.. It was a stroke of genius to use it here! I'm gonna have to do that with my She-Ra. I wonder if the leather-punch I just bought will work..... *runs of to try* ......

Wow! Just as well made as your Mara. I remember Drissi always had a sort of vaguely key-shaped kinda techno half-staff she carried. Adding some of those tech details might have made the staff fit better in that NA style. Though the weapon you gave her works well too. it kinda looks like a shortened Japanese Naginata or a long handled Scimitar (which are historically accurate though the name eludes me). You should consider sculpting one or two of her little furry friends she was always with.

Yeah maybe for a reissue. She is not highly popular with the He-man crowd but I had to try her. She used a techno staff but if there is anything I don't like is customizing weapons..I absolutely abhor making weapons and accessories. fabrication is mostly done by profesionals so I buy weapons and swords in bulk from my local comic shop. But hey, thank you for your input I might try that in the future if she is sucessful

Yeah I feel ya. I used to do leather tool work on some of the things I crafted for Ren Faires and Bike Weeks and was asked to try tooling a set of leather hair-sticks once and it drove me bloody mad. Can't remember where but I recall seeing something similar in design to the "key-staff" I was talking about, maybe from a Star-Trek toy. I'll have a look in my shed. If I find it I'd be happy to send it to ya.

Was just surfin the Bay and came across the old Toy Biz Gambit X-Men toy and noticed his staff (which might work as a half staff in MOTUC scale) looked strikingly like what I was talking about. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1992-MARVEL-DYN ... 1c2e0c6f61

Clever. Looks official, and the weapon is a nice fit. Could pass for an anime figure too.
