The idea behind this Kryptonian character was that he was the first Kryptonian to be called "KAL" in the house of EL. It was an interesting take on a Kryptonian - rather than being a muscle bound warrior, he was a great scientist and thinker. This was an original customer design, the second in a series of Superman's ancestors called "House of EL". ::Recipe: -ML Doctor Fate (body & head, resculpted) -DCUC Superman (hair, spliced & resculpted) -Sash was originally a red rubber glove, cut carefully based on a paper pattern I designed. Being a single piece, cut to drape correctly, it turned out well. Painted with Tamiya acrylics with no paint flaking - Tamiya's acrylics are actually very durable. -Unknown Forearms, interspliced with random articulated ML hands -Magnets embeded in the palms of each hand allow him to 'hold' both his datapad and Kryptonian book. -Book accessory was resculpted from a BTVS accessory. -The 'datapad' was originally a texture from Mass Effect, with custom Kryptonian fonts added in Photoshop. -Decals (for the sash, and accessories) were custom printed by a fellow I tracked down online who owned an ALPS Decal printer which was capable of printing opaque decals on white water slide paper. The resulting decals were very vibrant, and wonderful to work with. The whole figure was painted up with Vallejo and Tamiya acrylics (with leveling thinner), sealed with liquid-type Krazy glue, and sealed further with Vallejo matte/glossy varnishes. This figure was created based on a customer's original design back in December 2010/January 2011. ![]() |
