just in time! fellow realm user Satanaz (who is a Chilean compatriot) is running a contest about making Marvel or DC zombies for Halloween, there's even prizes! I'm really happy about the initiative because i think is one of the best ways to start making this hobby more popular here in Chile, so I'm participating too! i had this hulk lying around for ages (since he was released probably) and never really liked him so much, mostly because of those green zones on the skin and partly for the head sculpt, but when i was deciding which zombie i would make i saw one of the covers for the marvel zombies reprints and thought this would be the perfect choice. i would like to point out that even when he has some blood my intention here was to make him look rotten and not very fresh, since usually zombie customs are just figures with red blood all over the place and i wanted to make something more complex. so, what i did here was: Head: kept the head head as a base, dremeled everything except for the ears, while i sculpted the hair, face, teeth and mouth, what can be seen from the skull is not sculpted with epoxy, it was "sculpted with dremel" i don't know if theres a better way to say that ha ha, so the skull is actually the plastic from the original head. torso: sculpted the left pectoral and added two pieces of plastic that look like glass burned the right pectoral to get another texture, sculpted below that pectoral and made holes with dremel on the below the left one and on the back too, sculpted the upper left side of the back to show some muscle. arms: the right hand was just dremeled i made the shape of the bones that way, this arms shows signs of (or at least that's what is supposed to be) necrosis which was made with a soldering iron. the elbow bone was sculpted. there's something i really like on this guy and that is the muscles on his left arm, exactly the triceps which were sculpted with epoxy. legs: both legs show the knee bone, it was sculpted with epoxy as well as the bone on the left foot, there are some other injuries around here made with dremel. paint: painted all the injuries gray trying to match the skin color then made a paint wipe with black and started painting the details. i used five different reds, and two kinds of shadows to make to bones look better, used green, purple red and black to paint the zones with necrosis and bruises and finally added two kinds of gloss varnishes all over the place. Hope you guys liked him, thanks for looking, any comment is appreciated (and correction too!) and happy Halloween! see ya! EDIT: i wasn't satisfied with some of the injuries so i remade 4 of them, i just added some glue and painted to give a "pus/blood" effect or "mustard/ketchup" effect depending on the point of view ![]() |
That is some amazing detailing on the head using a dremel! WOW!
