Custom #:43511
Name:Batman Arkham City

Toy Series:Batman - Arkham City
Creator:JeddTheJedi
Date Added:October 12, 2012
Base Figure:Mattel Arkham City Batman (black variant)
Height:7.00 inches
I've never really liked Mattel's Arkham City Batman: the head sat oddly on the neck, the hands stuck out so he looked like a waddling penguin, the cape was cumbersome and flayed out behind him in a rather unnatural-looking manner, and he looked kinda stocky overall. Several customizers here on the realm have done some really nice reworkings of the figure, especially in terms of repainting. I found an all-black variant of the figure loose at a convention, I don't know if this is an official repaint that was unreleased or just a mostly-unpainted prototype, but either way it seemed ripe for a bit of a conversion. I tried sanding down the insides of his arms and the area where the arms meet the torso so Batman could bring his arms in closer, but I ended up creating large holes in the torso (it was my first day with a real dremel) and it doesn't seem to make too much of a difference. I trimmed off the sides of his cape (I know it would've been ideal to use a cloth cape instead, but this will have to do for now), then I smoothed his head into his neck so the connection didn't look as weird and sanded down a little of the inside of the cowl ears. Finally, I painted the whole thing up. The body was painted in grey with a bit of metallic paint mixed in, and the gauntlets and boots were painted in gun-metal black. I repainted the exposed mouth area and darkened the eyes, and went over the whole thing with a black wash to give it a more interesting and less plasticy look.

I definitely would not recommend poser colours at all. Acrylic paints like Testors Model Masters and Citadel would be the way to go. I use Tamiya paints, those are good as well. You want to get multiple thin layers and build them up to get a smooth paint job. Please look through the tutorials on Figurerealm, they are helpful.

You're welcome. For most head removals when doing customs, you just need to heat the area up with a hair dryer or soak the section in boiling water, so that the plastic becomes soft enough for you to pop the head off. Be careful though because you can easily snap the peg. Make sure you've heated it up enough, point the hair dryer at the neck/head connection for about a minute. I recommend checking out the tutorials here; they're very useful.

If I understand the problem correctly, what you can do is fill in the socket with blu-tack or a putty like it to take up the extra space inside the socket. I hope that helps.
