HEY DUDES,

Hows it hanging ? Hope everything is radical 4 ya !

Please meet the 80’s Cartoon style Ninja Turtles
I was 11 when The first cartoon came out , everyone quickly forgot about Transformers that is for sure – Turtles were so Epic that is all us kids back in those days cared about.

So who is your favourite Turtle? – hey you should write it down on the comments dudes – My Favourite is Leonardo

All of these amazing Turtles have been completely repainted head to toe for a more accurate look because while the original figures are quite good they were not cartoon accurate

THE JOB :

1) Corrected the eyes and added the missing eye shine which for some reason in the cartoon appears and disappears.
2) Corrected Leonardo’s & Donattelo’s belts by cutting the shoulder strap off and repositioning the holsters and in some spots required re-sculpting . You will also notice Donatello’s belt has the holster position so his weapon is angled descending from the left to right just like the cartoon ** note in some scenes it can be the other way round but most of the time its left to right .

3) Everything has been painted with Quality Citadel Games Workshop paints and here is my list of colours

SKIN - used Moot Green & Warboss Green mixed with a small amount Dark Angels Green - this gave it a more neon green but staying dark just like the cartoon

CHEST SHELL – Undercoat of Tallarn Sand colour then used Averland Sunset Yellow over the top . I originally just had the sandy colour but it looked too dark .

BELTS– Used Kragg Brown mixed with granite , and used Grey for the symbols and Ceramic White Lettering ** Note the colours of the symbols often changed during the first few seasons of the original cartoon most of the time it was White Circle with Grey lettering ** but I like it grey circle with white lettering.

WEAPONS– Methyl Silver and used shades of light brown for the handles. Leonardo’s Katana handles were painted grey with a brown handle to mirror the cartoon image. Donatellos Bo-staff was left alone as when I place it in its holster the paints strips right off so I couldn’t do much about his weapons apart from dry brushing it with Kragg Brown.

BACK SHELLS - now this was a pain because of the colourations during the shows episodes. Sometimes they were very light pink brown , sometimes they were olive and sometimes they were sandy brown. I used Tallarn Sand with Kragg Brown to get the Outer Shell colourations look while using the darker granite brown mixed with Kragg Brown to do the lining.

BANDANAS – these were totally repainted as once I added the dark green , the bands looked too dark . I mixed Lychee purple with white for Don’s and used white with Enchanted Blue for Leos – the effect came out superb and looked similar to the cartoon . l completely left Mikey’s & Raphs alone as the colours would be the same anyway.

Well nothing to it really but it was a huge job because there were 4 Turtles but I am really glad they came out the way they did – hope you guys like them let me know what ya think – cowabunga.

TURTLE POWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They look great! I like the shade of green you used better then the green I used on mine it's closer to the green on the cartoon, I just couldn't find the right shade of green in acrylic. Excellent paint apps.

If you don't mind the shine it gives the paint, you could use a brush to applay a very thin layer of Gorilla Glue over his bo-staff. If the glue is thin enough, it dries clear instead of yellowing and expanding. Otherwise you might try Mod Podge Matte. It helps seal acrylics, but the paint loses some of its luster. Great job on these.

These look really great man. The paint work on thses guys is so dead on to the animated show. I like the fact that you colored in the white light reflecting from their eyes. It looks so much better and adds character to their expressions without them looking so souless. Nice work bro!

Absolutely fantastic work! It's like looking at still shots from the cartoon itself! I'm still blown away how well the sculpts of the figures look like the cartoon from any angle, but you made them look PERFECT!

Totally tubular! I was always a Donnie fan growing up, but as I got older, I came to the conclusion that Leo's where it's at.

Keep up the great....I mean, radical work.
