I know this has been done numerous times. Its just that I had to share my experience with making this. Normally I would introduce this saying ".. here's a simple repaint.." But no I will not do that. This took me forever to figure out and quite frankly I have given up any hope of trying to make it look decent. The original figure is ok as long as you do not take it out of the packaging but upon closer inspection you will find lots of defects that you need to be fixed prior to painting. I did some slight molding on the biceps since it looked terrible if i just painted over the original. Also , I couldn't get the red just right so if anyone can let me know the right color to use it will be greatly appreciated. I think I may have gone overboard with the wash. Plus the articulation on these are terrible!!! Anyway, just posting some "better" pics compared to before. Please wait... |

As for making a nice metallic red, the method of painting silver and putting clear red on top of that does work nice, but it's hard to water down the clear red becaus it already needs 5 or 6 coats to cover and become a consistent red. Some ok results mixing a little regular red paint into the clear red, but I'm still struggling to find an easy and effective way to do it myself.
