Pittaurus (Legendary Comic Book Heroes) Custom Action Figure
Began with a pitt baf upper torso.Had to acquire it piece by piece as we all know.Looked and looked for the perfect sized horse that would best match Pitts enormous size.Articulation on the horse did not matter since its to be displayed and not played with.Next,i had to measure the correct angle to remove the horses head.It had to be close to 45 degree to be able to cradle pitts torso. It was perfect cause they came together as if it were meant to be but now how to keep them together?I began to email back n forth with the master himself(Jin Saotome)and the one product he recommended that i will swear by is that Aves apoxie sculpt.Awesome stuff!I balled it n sqished it and began to mold a spine, hips, love handles and lower obliques.I also thickened up the legs from top to bottom to give it matching thickness to pitts mass.I bought sculpting tools as was suggested but honestly i never used them.I drew this concept out on paper first to make the idea more visual. Then pushed and patted forming muscle curves.I also researched horse anatomy to help me form a realistic muscle tone.Once the apoxie hardened,i began to dress him.OH YEAH,by the way, pitts right arm is actually a left arm that i also ordered.I removed his thumb and placed it on the opposite side.I placed apoxie sculpt where the thumb was to smooth out the removed thumb as well as to secure the thumb at opposite. The fingers go from pinky to fore-finger but im ok with that.It actually looks great and saved me money by not having to purchase an actual right arm!Dressing him was next. For his loin cloth i got creative.I used Pitts vest by measuring the width between the legs, cutting a "V"out of it.I stitched a set of tiny snaps at the sleeves. The sleeves wraps around its body coming together at its lower spine.Pitts belt of chains was extended to become a sash or whatever its called. The collar remained with extra material on it so i used it with extra rubber chain to create a sort of tail-bone,leather armor dressing kid of deal.lol.The red rubber dressing up front came from the skirt of an action figure i found at the swap-meet and the red spikey things at the rear dressing were some sort of bat wings i believe.I filled the torso with glue from a hot glue gun. Before i dressed him,i covered his torso and primered his body with a flat grey. Then did his final paint in a flat black.Put the dressing on and there he sits!My first attempt at a custom. All because i saw a custom, followed it to this site and made contact with creative and very down to earth, helpful kind of guys.Jin Saotome and mr. collin over in Conn on the east coast. Thanks to them and a big thanks to Figure Realm for allowing a super greenhorn to display his vision!
