Barrel Snail

Unusual gastropods that can be encountered in the Earth World region of From Software's 1998 Shadow Tower Playstation roleplaying video game. The monsters Barrel Snail and Cannon Snail share the same polygon game model but differ in color and combat capability. While these creatures are quite large, they're just as slow as the much smaller common snail, so it's a relatively simple matter to outmaneuver or avoid these titanic molluscs. However, lest one become too eager for a taste of monstrous escargot, keep in mind that the Barrel Snail can and will emit noxious clouds of poisonous gas from the end of its cylindrical shell to defend itself from anything that it perceives to be a threat.

Materials:
Newsprint, white glue, a wire twist tie, acrylic paint, and gloss nail polish.

Dimensions:
5.9 cm/2.3 in. x 5.4 cm/2.1 in. (widest point x highest point)

Time:
One day: June 17, 2012.

*****

King Hopper

Amphibian royalty that can be encountered in the Beast World region of From Software's 1998 Shadow Tower Playstation roleplaying video game. These gargantuan bipedal frogs can leap incredible distances, crushing anything that they land upon, and will also occasionally spray poisonous vapor from their mouths.

Materials:
Newsprint, white glue, a wire twist tie, and acrylic paint.

Dimensions:
2.9 cm/1.1 in. x 1.8 cm/0.7 in. (widest point x highest point)

Time:
Two days: June 16 and 17, 2012

*****

Star Serpent

Unusual reptiles that can be encountered in the Earth World region of From Software's 1998 Shadow Tower Playstation roleplaying video game. In close quarters combat, Star Serpents attempt to bludgeon and impale prey on the five bony projections that ring their necks. If the snake can't immediately reach its intended target, it will instead fling boulders, or any other loose debris near at hand, with its muscular tail.

Materials:
Newsprint, white glue, a wire twist tie, acrylic paint, gloss nail polish, and plastic (transparent base only).

Dimensions:
4.6 cm/1.8 in. x 6.0 cm/2.4 in. (widest point x highest point)

Time:
Two days: June 16 and 17, 2012.
