No problem I haven't tried to dye anything either, but from what I have seen the white 3D printed material soaks the dye up almost like a sponge. Oh and the stacks attach using ball joints.

I have this figure (is the only Classics one I have left, I prefer the movie stuff but this was a nice figure and a present so it has sentimental value) and this is a good repaint of it but I never seen those smoke stacks before, they really give it a cooler look. Do you think they may still be available (and affordable)?

Thanks I'm sentimental as well with the last two original G1 figures that I have, and I don't think I would ever sell them. This kit is still available I got them through shapeways a few years ago the designer's ID there is CALLOWAY75 the kit is called "Classics Prime Smokestacks kit mk3". You will have to do a little prep work and painting or you can actually dye the 3D printed material. I really like this set, and it does add a lot to the look of Classics Prime.
