This one was somewhat inspired by Issaim's (and everyone else's really, but especially his)...but I wanted to do something a little different too. The head is from a Jazwares Street Fighter Ken figure, and a bunch of sculpt for hair and the face pieces on the cheeks/edge of mouth. The shoulder pads were made out of super sculpey (unfortunately I couldn't sand out the imperfections in them...grr.) The tendrils are speaker wire, and unfortunately one detail does not show...I painstakingly notched them every 1/16" and it just does not show up in the pics. Oh well, small gripe,eh? The red was actually a sequence of thin coats of testors stop light red, liquitex cadmium red medium hue, and testors clear red. I'm pretty satisfied with it, as I feel it looks more like a layered armor uniform instead of red spandex or other tight cloth.

Cool man. Definately getting better. Watch the fingerprints, (even if you have to wear rubber gloves while sculpting) and try to do a bit of shading to draw out some depth of detail. Maybe check out the drybrushing tutorials. Keep at em!!

Thanks. And yeah, the fingerprints, I know. I sanded and sanded but that dang super sculpey held them too well. That's why this is one of the last times I use it... I graduated myself to apoxie sculpt. But I was fairly content with this one, except I might touch up the hair, layer in more color to make less yellow and more blond. I have read the tutorials actually. I just honestly didn't bother with dry brushing here( I dry brushed and washed my Ult Juggs though) but I may revisit Ol Red here and do some tweaking. Good to hear others see improvement. Thanks again

I just thought of this...do you think a light wash on the torso with some Citadel Red Gore would make it pop?

Uhm... no, I don't. If you are gonna do a wash, do a darker one to bring the red to the foreground. A drybrush in a lighter tone would do that also, but a wash of red would probably not do much, and the camara wouldn't pick up much of it at all. Bare in mind that washes are usually done to darken shadowed spots and drybrushing is done to lighten things that are more exposed to light. Keep at em buddy!

That;s kinda why I thought a little of red gore might be alright around the chest lines and abs...just a little wash to get that darker color into the creases...but if it doesn't sound like a winner, I'm glad for the tipoff so I don't screw up something decent...if decent this is. Much thanks, and I'll definitely be working at it.
