Broo has only been in the X-Men books for a few months, but he's already a favourite of mine. I didn't think of making a figure of him until I saw the Green Lantern Movie Masters Hector Hammond on clearance at a toy store. The squat body in a suit was perfect for one of the Jean Grey Academy uniforms... so I knew I had to make Broo.

Body: Hector Hammond Movie Master
Head/lower arms/legs: Dr. Who Slitheen baby
Neck: DCD figure (forgot the name)

I had picked up a Dr. Who figure of the baby green alien thing and he was sitting in my fodder box for a couple years. I thought the big eyes would work for Broo, so I used it as a base, but really, the eyes are the only part still visible after sculpted the Brood likeness. The mouth was carved in and then resculpted and filled with some sharp teeth made from toothpicks. Broo always has his teeth popping out of his mouth in the comics.

I popped the lower legs and arms off Hector Hammond and replaced the, with the alien's. I had to do some sculpting on the shorts to make them fit properly with the new legs. The legs and arms have been covered with Apoxie Sculpt and made to look like Broo's wrinkly hide.

Finally, I tried my hand at making a pair of removable glasses for Broo. They're just made of two plastic discs that I punched out of a piece of plastic with a hole punch and glued it together with some twist ties.

I'm really happy with how he turned out.
