John McClane (Die Hard) Custom Action Figure
Custom #: | 391 | Name: | John McClane | Custom Type: | Action Figure | Toy Series: | Die Hard | Creator: | Will Turner | Date Added: | October 25, 2005 | Base Figure: | Bloody Marv (Sin City) | Height: | 7.50 inches |
This is Bruce Willis as he appeared in the Die Hard films. I've always wanted to do this one, but I had to wait for a figure with a good Bruce Willis head. This looks like it was easy, but there was a major head compatability issue between Hartigan and Marv, and needles to say color to be dealt with. I did all of the facial hair and dirt and oil smudging effects, which were I guess the hardest part. I really like how he turned out and he was an awesome custom to work on.
The only thing missing as of yet is the LAPD detective badge around his neck, for that, i'll use a die cast sheriff or policeman's badge from Michael's Arts and Crafts, my go to store for accessories in a figure scale that normally wouldn't be included with commercial action figures (Beer cans, Beer bottles, cigars, playing cards, etc.)

BARE FEET!
Seriously, though... I am really digging that custom! I would definitely vote for switching the blood to sweat. I picture John as definitely haggered and sweaty, not so much bloody (well, aside from the bare feet, of course!)
Faaaaantastic custom, by the way! Looks great!

Of course, it's your figure so whatever you think...
As for the accessories, there are a few figures out there that come with beer cans. I know Bill and Dale from King of the Hill do. Maybe you could find some played with figures cheap to get the accessories. I know I've seen a couple others I can't think of right now.
