Custom #:36584
Name:Heath Ledger Joker from the Dark Knight
Contest:Vile Volitions II
Custom Type:Action Figure
Toy Series:Movie Maniacs
Creator:sinag55
Date Added:February 7, 2012
Base Figure:Neca Edward Cullen
Height:7.25 inches
“Do you want to know why I use a knife? Guns are too quick. You can't savor all the... little emotions. In... you see, in their last moments, people show you who they really are. So in a way, I know your friends better than you ever did. Would you like to know which of them were cowards?”

I often wondered what it would be like if Neca/McFarlane made The Dark Knight figures instead of the undersized Movie Masters line that Mattel gave us. Since most of my collection is from Neca/McFarlane/DC Direct and The Dark Knight is one of my favorite films, I had to make a custom of what I consider to be the best movie villain since Hannibal Lecter in a similar scale.

After two failed attempts (the first plain sucks, while the second needs some revisions), I’m finally satisfied enough with what I’ve done to show the folks of figurerealm =D. I’m just a beginner, so please be kind.

Joker murdered the following to get their body parts:
Head and Hair: Neca Edward Cullen with the face and hair sanded/cut off. I only used the joint and sculpted over it. (For those who will ask why I have a Twilight figure, well, I bought it specifically for this =D.)This alone took a bulk of the production time.

Torso/Vest: Neca Edward Cullen. Same as the head, I only took the joint and sculpted over the whole thing.

Upper Arms: Neca Jonah Hex. Destroyed a Neca Quentin Turnbull upper arms so I had to murder another figure to get the joints. Like the head and torso, this is also sculpted over.

Lower Arms: Neca Quentin Turnbull, sculpted same as the above.

Legs: Neca Patrick Bateman. Just repainted this but I have to say painting the pinstripes is a real pain.

Overcoat: Cut up and reassembled a broken Mezco Hellboy coat to the shape I want and sculpted over it to get the small details. After experimenting with the ratio of Procreate, I managed to make it semi-flexible. I actually regretted destroying the figure though. I think I could have used another (cheaper) material to use.

Coat: Repainted Edward’s.

Shoes: Repainted and sculpted over Edward's.

Gun: Bought a cheap soldier figure, took his gun and sculpted over it.

Knife: McFarlane Sin City Marv

As me & everyone else predicted, you won man! Congrats & I'm curious about the t2 mod you talked about in one of your reply. Can you post it? I did something like that & hes sitting on a harley too lol. Just click on my name & check it out. Once again, congrats on the epic win man!

Yup, I did something similar. Same Harley. Difference is I sculpted the legs because I did it a few months before Duke Nukem came out. This is actually the very first attempt at customizing/modding a figure. Turned out acceptable but the paint job is atrocious.

And thanks for the feedback on my Joker.

I gotta give this a 5 even though I find it hard to believe you are a beginner! Using procreate?? come on that's for expert minature makers! Love what you did here though! The likeness to Ledger is uncanny! I wish I could sculpt a quarter good as what you have done here!

Thanks for the 5 stars . This is actually my 3rd custom. My first is a mod of Neca's T-800 (sculpted legs to have him sit down a Harley) and the second is Bane that I poster here a few months ago.

No miniature sculpting background here, just pure obsession. I did maybe a dozen revisions to Joker's head. Sculpting/Shaving off/Starting over until I felt satisfied with the outcome.

Really hated the figures from Twilight and seeing this custom somehow made them useful for base bodies great job!

The head sculpt is mind blowing! Specially coming from a beginner. Its okay that you have sacrificed figures and failed in your first attempts, the outcome payed off big time. Will be looking forward on you future works. Awesome job!

Yep, you sculpted that face AND you kept him articulated AND you found a use for a horrible figure. I hope Edward suffered while his face was shaved off still couldn't have been as bad as sitting through his movie. LOL! The realism, various parts, and the Joker being one of my favorite characters since I watched the old 70's reruns as a kid, magnificent paint apps, I say WINNER!!!!!!!!!

Even though he's made from Edward, that's the clear winner for me.
