Okay, here comes the second figure in my series of conjectural characters based upon the premise that what if another Golden Age hero other than Superman was given a teenage superhero career? So, using that idea as my basis, I came up with Sandboy.

To do this figure, I took the Movie Masters Dark Knight Harvey Dent figure (since the Movie Masters figures are in fact shorter than the DC Universe classics figures, and are also the exact same height as the DC Direct Crisis on Infinite Earths Series 3 Earth-Prime Superboy figure) and combined it with the head, hands, jacket, tie, cape, and gun from the DC Universe Classics Sandman figure. I did some minor repainting of the Harvey Dent arms and legs in a shade of green that closely matched the green of the Sandman jacket, as well as a light shade of brown for the Harvey Dent shoes and Sandman gloves, and then trimmed the jacket to fit the slimmer Harvey Dent figure. Lastly, I used some Testors Model Cement to affix the tie and cape in place and close the jacket, and TA-DA...Sandboy!!!!

Please let me know what you guys think of him, and as always, comments are appreciated.

Oh, I get what you've done now nice work! I saw this yesterday but wasn't sure what to think of it so I'd thought I'd come back and see if you posted new pics (which you did) to show the difference from the original. So Sandman has been scaled down a bit to the DK scale so was this done so that you may display him with DK figures?

This was actually done so that I could have a Superboy-like version of the Sandman. The Dark Knight Movie Masters figures were scaled down enough heightwise to make it believable that this was a teen hero in scale with the DC Universe Classics figures and/or the DC Direct figures. I'm actually planning on doing a Superboy fan fic where a teenage Clark meets teenage versions of the JSA members, and I always like to have an actual figure of the character in front of me so that I can visualize him/her while writing. I'm glad that you liked him. It was a lot of painstaking work trying to put him together, whether it was matching the paint or opening the jacket and trimming it down to fit the smaller scale figure.

I totally get in now thanks for the response! As regards to matching paint apps I know it can be a pain I've done it myself a few times trying to match tones, and some times I just find it easier to just do a full repaint when things don't come out the way I'd like. But I must say it appears you've matched the colors up quite nicely so again great work!

Thanks again for the comments and the encouragement. I always try to respond to those who comment on my customs and answer any questions that they might have for me. Matching paint is one of the most annoying tasks to have to do when working on a custom. I agree, I did come pretty close here, and I know what you mean about it sometimes being far easier to just do a full repaint. BTW, you should see what I have in store for the remaining parts from the two figures that I used here...it will be an inspired piece of work.

Thanks. Glad you liked him. I would have posted the pic of Sandman and Sandboy together when I first posted the figure, but I was having a slight issue accessing the file on my hard drive where the pics were stored, so I just posted it as is until I was able pull up the pic.

I get you idea, and it was really well done, but I would have maybe tried to make him look a little more different that the original. But as for the work itself, phenominal job!

The only reason that I didn't make Sandboy look different from Sandman is that in most of Wesley Dodd's early Golden Age appearances, his signature look was that of the double-breasted green business suit...if, like Superman, he had had a teenage superhero career, it is likely that his teen look would have been identical to his adult look prior to his adopting of the yellow and purple spandex costume he wore during his adventures with Sandy the Golden Boy. I'm glad that you liked the figure. It is always nice to hear words of encouragement from you guys.

Yeah, I don't really understand this custom? Seems like it is made of parts leftover from using Sandman's limbs on another custom...

If you would have carefully read the description of the figure, you would have seen that it was a Movie Masters Dark Knight Harvey Dent that was repainted with parts taken from the Sandman figure. The use of the Harvey Dent body was done for the size specifications so that he could be placed next to a DC Direct Crisis on Infinite Earths Series 3 Superboy figure and have the newly created figure appear to be in scale with other teen figures made by either DC Direct or Mattel.
