Okay, here comes yet another figure in my Silver and Bronze Age Superboy collection, the Kryptonite Dog!

The Kryptonite Dog was the canine companion to the Kryptonite Kid, a telepathic alien juvenile delinquent who was shot into space. Both, after passing through a strange radiation cloud, were imbued with Kryptonite radiation, able to generate it from their bodies at will, fire bursts of it from their hands, and even imbue objects with K-radiation, effectively turning ordinary household objects into Kryptonite temporarily.

The figure was pretty simple to make. I took the Silver Age Krypto the Superdog figure from the Silver Age Superboy and Supergirl boxset and used the boil and pop method to remove the Krypto head, collar/cape, and all four legs. Next, I sanded the neck post into a peg, applied a glob of Milliput around the post and neck to build it up, and then attached a modified PVC Rottweiler head into the Milliput to create a new socket. Once the Milliput dried, I glued the head into the new socket, and once the glue dried, I sanded it smooth. Next, I used Tamiya Putty White to build up the neck around the seam between head and neck (and to hide the seam). Once the Tamiya Putty White had dried, I sanded it smooth, and then repeated the process for a second coat. Once this was completed, I trimmed the Krypto tail down into the Kryptonite Dog's stubby little tail using my Dremel and some sand paper. Immediately after that, I painted the figure's body and legs with the same shade of green paint that I used to create the Kryptonite Kid figure some months back (HINT-HINT, WINK-WINK, NUDGE-NUDGE). As soon as the green paint was dry, I painted the eyes with black paint. Lastly, once all of the paint had dried, I again used the boil and pop method to reattach the legs to the body, and TA-DA...the Kryptonite Dog!!!!

Please let me know what you guys think of him, and as always, comments are appreciated.

Thanks. Glad you liked it. Yes, it is obscure, but I've found that the more obscure or "forgotten" the character that I do, the less likely it will be of being made by Mattel or DC Direct...and you can't get any more obscure or "forgotten" than the many characters that Superboy faced back in the late Golden, the Silver, and the eartly Bronze Ages of comics.
