So, here we come at last to the final piece. Not my final figure, or my final MOTU, oh no, not by a long shot, I assure you! It's merely the final MOTU Hybrid figure that I've yet taken pictures of. Rest easy, I've already completed three more characters, and I've got three more cut up and awaiting assembly at this very moment. However, I must take a brief break to prepare for some upcoming contests. I'm entering no less than three of them, so I'd best get my entries in order! So for the moment, I leave you with my latest MOTU Hybrid, the triumvirate of terror, the three-fold threat, Tri-Klops!

MOTU Hybrid is my attempt to unify the best of all three MOTU eras. The ideas (i.e. color schemes and concepts) of the original cartoon, the sculpts of the 2002 toys, and the articulation of modern figures, at a far more reasonable cost. Sometimes, the "reasonable cost" side of the equation takes priority. I wanted to make Tri-Klops, complete with weapon and Doomseeker drone. However, a complete figure, in package, costs almost $20 after shipping in today's market. An incomplete one, however, can go for substantially less. I wanted the whole package, but when a Tri-Klops showed up on [insert popular bidding site], sans drone, for only $4 with shipping, it was a no brainer. I'd figure out the Doomseeker some other way, this was too good to pass up.

The joint swapping process was the same as always: cut limb, hollow limb with Dremel, implant donor joint, sculpt around joint to make joint look seamless, reattach limb, repeat. Tri-Klops came with ball shoulders and hips, and rotating waist, neck, and wrists. Now he also has hinge knees, elbows, and ankles, as well as rotating biceps, shins, and thighs. He also maintains his push-button fencing arm action feature.

Tri-Klops' color scheme was a hard decision. The character's color has been inconsistent in EVERY incarnation. All had green armor, but the details changed from one version to the next. His original 80s figure had a yellow belt with orange sternum-strap and bracers, and black boots and loincloth. The MOTUC figure made all his belt orange as well, but kept the black components. The 2002 figure kept the yellow belt and orange trim, and added orange shin guards to his black boots. And the Filmation cartoon did away with his trim ENTIRELY, and made his boots and loincloth brown. Ultimately, I thought all these incarnations looked stupid, and thus went with the 2002 CARTOON colors . . . green armor, black boots and loincloth, and gold trim, with a few silver highlights for his cybernetic components.

Tri-Klops has three accessories:
- 1 sword, broken when I bought it, a little Krazy Glue and some paint, and it looks perfect.
- 1 Doomseeker drone, sculpted entirely from scratch, painted in an original color scheme, based on the design from the 2002 cartoon. I'm really happy how this turned out!
- 1 flight stand. Normally, I wouldn't mention this, but it has a cool feature . . . the screw-pin from the bottom hinge can unscrew and the whole top can be removed. The loop on the joint is EXACTLY the same diameter as the push-button for Tri-Klops' action feature, located on his back. Thus, the top of the flight stand can be attached to Tri-Klops' button, serving double duty as a peg, to make it look like his Doomseeker is floating over his shoulder! It's a little thing, but it's really neat!

Does anyone else hate Figure Realm's language filter's as much as I do? Seriously, I can't even say the WORD [insert popular bidding site] without getting blocked?

By the power of Grayskull!

Figure Realm is meant to be a family-oriented website, so that is why the custom descriptions and the other portions of the site have the language filter to weed out the profanity & other offensive material. And even though some words and phrases aren't meant to be offensive some people find ways and choose to abuse those said words and phrases, unfortunate but true.

And as for why you can't mention "E" in the custom descriptions, that is because again people have "abused" the showcase and its descriptions in trying to market and plug their pieces. In which case that is not the intent of the Custom Showcase. It is mainly meant to show off/display the customs and receive comments & constructive criticisms and for people to just enjoy talking about their work on display. However the "E" link provided with each submission was one way to curb the intent of mentioning marketing customs in descriptions and can even be considered a courtesy to the customizers.
Much of this can be found in the sites FAQ/Help section as well.

By the way, Great work on not only this but all of your other MOTU Hybrids. They all look superb!

It's cool, man! Yeah, I know why the filter is there. It was largely tongue-in-cheek venting. The policy is totally understandable, it just drives me crazy sometimes! I just figured one of the mods reviewed all the entries before they posted, so you guys could make those kinds of language judgements yourselves. But I suppose it still helps to have a catch-all net to do some of the heavy lifting. Sorry if my postscript offended, not intentional, just a little friendly snark.

And thanks for the compliment on my work! I see you as one of the pro customizers on the site, so I'm always thrilled to have you guys take notice! Even if it was by way of reprimand.
