Night Force VAMP common name "Firestorm" Parts used; -Mini Giant modified chassis and electronics (full function 4 X 4 RC) -Head lights are radio shack including the toggle switch -Red and blue flashing LED's are radio shack and I used Tonka steel brigade electronics for sound and flashing effect, added a motion sensor and toggle switch -Ultimate soldier ration accessories, along with modified G.I. JOE amo crates glued together and hollowed out to make a battery case -Body is a Walmart $10 vehicle (I'm sure you recognize it) -Various parts from new G.I. JOE VAMP -Motorcycle also Walmart Purpose; -(QRF) Quick Responce Force -Front line recon and re-suply -Convoy security Specifications; -Heavy armor -All-tearien self sealing run flat tires -4 wheel drive -7 barrel volcan canon w/super high velocity rounds Firestorm can always be found in the front, running point as convoy security or responding to eminent treats (QRF). With its heavy armor and super high velocity vulcan canon what doesn't move out of the way Firestorm removes out of its way. With Scarlet (unavailable for picture, Status: ON LEAVE), Sgt Stone and Bench Press at the gun Firestorm becomes unstoppable. Stacked with supplies ranging from extra ammo, rations, sniper rifles, fuel, small arms and even a motorcycle to deliver supplies to the JOE's (in those hard to reach places) it can maintain the line against any of Cobras assaults. Notes: Highly durable 4x4 Radio control vehicle I have taken it out to some rough terrain and its taken a good beating rolled over and taken some sweet jumps its fast with a fresh recharged battery it wheelies. had fun building it. Basically expanded the chassis and superimposed the body added a little spray paint and some mods for the battery compartment, which is hidden underneath all the supplies you see in the rear. I basically glued all the supplies together so it would fit snug and then hollowed out the bottom to accommodate the battery, in the second picture you can see the blue battery pack in mid bounce, snug fit but not snug enough for the bounce (still working on it). I integrated some white LEDs for head lights along with a on/off toggle switch mounted on the dash board. I also added red and blue LEDs as emergency lights, using the electronics from an old Tonka steel brigade diecast truck for flashing effect and siren sound, adding a pressure sensative switch between the chassis and axle allows the lights and sirens to be activated when vehicle moves, (or you can turn them off with another toggle switch on the dash) toggle switches and LEDs can be bought at Radio Shack (I know third picture is blurry but you can really see the lights at work). The chassis was a challenge wanted to maintain the suspension from the original (which is awesome kind of like rock crawler) I have found that ones you try to replace the angles where the suspension is mounted you lose mobility so I just split the frame in half while maintaining structural integrity and used round plastic rods to connect the two halves. The driveshaft was expanded by using an old rc antenna, basically splitting the driveshaft and reconnecting the ends to the antenna tube used Pegasus Hobby glue worked great, sense the pictures were taken I found that the driveshaft was taking a beating with the rocks hitting the bottom so I reinforced the underbelly with skid plates (1/8th inch plastic sheets) and added wheel wells so the JOE's don't fall thru during crashes and rollovers, still have to figure a way to keep Sgt Stone from flying out the turret during rollovers (maybe a quick release harness). FUN. Hope you enjoy and maybe my project sparks a little idea for a project of your own. ![]() |
