I always loved the character Jonah Hex, particularly the Michael Fleisher (writer)/Tony DeZuniga(artist)produced Hex of the mid to late 70s/early 80s. Jonah Hex dominated the comic Weird Western Tales up until issue #38, when he moved into his own self titled series in 1977. I've also been on a vintage GI Joe kick lately, so I decided to blend the two properties together. Jonah Hex has been known to time-travel during his run so it's not impossible to consider that at some undocumented period of his existence he fought alongside the Joes while trapped in the future. His head is from Deep Six with a re-sculpted visage, which was a pain in the butt at this scale, his torso and arms are from a dremeled down Headman, his belt/skirt/holster are from a 90s era Cobra Commander, his upper legs are from a 90s era Wild Bill, lower legs are from a vintage Hawk (I think), legs were modded to be compatible with each other and the base body, and his pistol and hat are from a RAH Wild Bill. I used a McFarlane Werewolf and the base of an Aurora Wolfman model to enhance that third pic. I recently invested in some new lights and bulbs in an effort to make my photography more dynamic - I find the photography aspect of the customizing hobby to be just as challenging or maybe even more so (since I have no inherent interest in it) than the actual fun part of customizing toys, yet as I continue to struggle with it I've realized it is an important and often under-utilized part of the game imo. So to anyone out there who is having trouble taking pictures - I feel your pain bro lol. Thanks for looking friends! Hope you are all doing well. ![]() |
