Base Figure:Frankenstein/Conan/McFarlane L.O.D.
Height:7.00 inches
I'm a fan of the 1985 Ridley Scott film, "Legend," and particularly fond of the make-up and special f/x work the amazing Rob Bottin (probably better known for his work on John Carpenter's "The Thing")did for the movie. Apparently I wasn't the only one, as it was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Make-up the year it was released.
Anyways, I was very pleased when the McFarlane Lord Of Darkness hit the shelves. I thought to myself, "Finally! I've been waiting for this figure for 17 years!!!"
However, I was very disappointed in the limited pose-ability and statuesque nature of the toy. So I finally decided to upgrade the figure into something that I would have gone totally crazy for when I was a kid.
I used the head, hooves, belt, and cape from the original figure and modded them to fit and work with the Marvel Legends Frankenstein torso and legs. The legs were heavily re-sculpted to give them a satyr/goat leg bend. He can still stand on his own if you find the right center of gravity but he poses better with a base, so I gave him the one from the Marvel Select Black Widow, which seemed to fit the character. You can also hang it on the wall, which is a cool feature. The arms are from a Marvel Legends Conan. Not sure about where the sword came from...I filled in all the existing peg holes with Aves fix-it to make the figure more aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Also he went from being 5 inches to being just a little over 7 inches (even bigger if you factor in the height of his horns), which makes him more physically imposing standing amongst the rest of my figure collection, and he now has a decent 24 points of articulation!
I would be remiss in not mentioning the great work that actor Tim Curry did in portraying the character Lord Of Darkness. He really displayed a fantastic amount of depth in his performance, and even managed to make a completely evil character seem sympathetic at times. According to Wiki, he had to endure 5 1/2 hours of make-up application to become the Lord Of Darkness and at the end of the day, spent an hour in a bath in order to liquefy the soluble spirit gum. At one point during filming, Curry became aggravated and claustrophobic and pulled his make-up off too quickly, tearing off his own skin in the process! Director Ridley Scott had to shoot around the actor for a week as a result.
Hope you like it and thanks for looking!

one of my favorite movies of all time, even though it has tom cruise in it. Also you tackled on of the coolest characters of all time and make him spot on epic. how can you live without the dark? Have one question did he call you boy at any time while you were making him?
