This one is Mighty Boy II an alien hero from the planet Zumoor who appeared in Superboy Vol. I #85 (Dec, 1960). He was aided by Rovo the Mighty Dog and both gained super powers from the yellow light of Zumoor's moon that are equivalent to those possessed by Superboy and Krypto. Mighty Boy and Rovo are originally from Earth and were launched to the distant planet Zumoor by Mighty Boy's scientist father when the small Caribbean Island they were vacationing on was about to be destroyed by a massive tidal wave (yeah, I know, MAJOR overkill). Mighty Boy and Rovo become friends with Superboy until it is revealed that direct physical contact with Superboy causes the pair to undergo amazing transformations, much the way that Superboy is transformed by exposure to Red Kryptonite.
It was a pretty straight-forward, easy custom to do. First, I took a DC Direct Crisis on Infinite Earths Series 3 Earth-Prime Superboy and removed the head, arms, legs, and hands. Next, I used Tamiya Putty White to fill in the grooves of the chest symbol. While the putty dried, I used my Dremel to remove the cape symbol, and then used more Tamiya Putty White to fill in the area of the cape where the symbol was. As soon as all of the putty was dry, I sanded it smooth. Next, I used a bit of Milliput to create new belt and the gauntlets. Once dry, I sanded the Milliput for the belt and gauntlets smooth and shaped it properly. Next, I commenced a full repaint of the body, and then reassembled the body, minus the head. While the paint dried, I took the head from a Playmates Star Trek Movie Warp Collection Cadet Chekov and used my Dremel to excavate out a new hole in the head and also remove the small portion of neck from it so that the head and the Superboy figure's neck could fit together nicely and neatly, and afterwards, I commenced a full repaint of the head. As soon as the paint had dried, I sanded it smooth, and used my Dremel to remove the ball portion of the Superboy's neck peg, leaving a cylindrical post. I then sprayed a glob of Testors model glue into the newly excavated head cavity and then pushed the cylindrical neck post in it to attach the head to the neck. Lastly, I glued a new symbol to the figure's chest which I drew by hand to match the one that Mighty Boy II had in Superboy #85, and TA-DA...Mighty Boy II, one-time friend and ally of Superboy!!!!
