For your concideration, we have Gerture Yorkes and her faithful, genetically engineered velociraptor from the future, Old Lace. Gert or "Arsenic" as she was known for a short time is the daughter of time traveling super villians who had Old Lace created to share a telepathic link with Gert, and to serve as protection in the event of their death. After finding out their parents were super villians, a rag-tag group of seudo-superpowered youths banded together to protect one another and were eventually dubbed The Runaways. Gert served as the the group's relentlessly sarcastic voice of reason. A handful of story archs and several artist/style changes have made the Runaways's cannon especially difficult to track, but as far as i can tell, Gert has died twice. The first time, an aged Gert from the future shows up at the groups hideout mortally wounded, claiming that she was the leader of the Avengers and the son of Ultron had nearly whiped them out. She died in Chase's arms. Later, her normal-aged self was stapped by the mythically resurrected father of traitor, Alex Wilder... again, dying in Chase's arms. In her final act, she "transfered" her connection to Old Lace to Chase and slipped away moments before she could confess her love for him. Cruel Fate.

Besides the relatable characters and the engauging storylines, one of the things that made runaways so different is the lack of costumes. Each time the characters appeared, they were in different clothes... relating it more to real life. The choice of clothes on this figure has changed at least 3 times durring it's construction. Deciding what Gert would have worn was the most difficult part. I ended on some grunge fashion that still had a hint of femininity (not sure if thats really a word).

sneakers made with rubberband pieces

all painted with acrylics.
