Mogo (1985 - 2011)

Mogo, age unknown, died suddenly and unexpectedly in the orbit of Oa, Space Sector 00.
He was born in the creation of the universe, and much of his early history, as well as how he joined the Green Lanturn Corps, is unknown. He leaves behind two moons and assorted debris hurtling dangerously through space. Seriously, be careful.

Mogo was not only the roundest of the Green Lanterns, he was also the Corps' only member to be a living planet. A lifelong resident of Space Sector 2261 for several millennia, he was the compass that directed where new Green Lasnturn rings went to find viable candidates.

Although he often acted as mentor to the Corpsmen needing guidance, he was known for not being to socialize. His passions included cultivating the lush forests covering his surface, orbting his system's sun and not exploding. During the "Blackest Night" Mogo selflessly protected Oa and the Central Power Battery by absorbing dangous Black Lantern energy into his own core. Few have ever demonstrated such bravery or sacrifice and, after seeing what happed to the last guy who did, odds are few more will ever try.
He will be misse3d.
In lieu of flowers, the Guardians ask that donations of willpower be sent in care of Oa, Or cash. Cash is actually better, but, you know, whatever.

-Obituary from Green Lantern Corps #60

Mogo here is one GL I've always wanted and will never be made (as an acurately scaled version would be larger than North America). I used a dollar store ball gave it a white base coat, then used a sponge brush to apply the land and sea masses, and went over with a smaller brush to add fine details. Gave him cloud cover, and VIOLA! Used the the two page spread from Blackest Night GLC (I think it was issue 46, but I'm not sure) as reference material.

Enjoy!

Really nice work. But I was unaware Mogo died. He survived the Blackest Night.

Really impressive paint job, especially on the cloud cover. Props to you for doing a more unusual figure instead of the typical humanoid!
