Angrir the Breaker of Souls! (the Thing: Fear Itself Version) (Marvel Legends) Custom Action Figure
Custom #:30157
Name:Angrir the Breaker of Souls! (the Thing: Fear Itself Version)
Custom Type:Action Figure
Toy Series:Marvel Legends
Creator:Heroes Assembled Customs
Date Added:June 10, 2011
Base Figure:ML Thing
Height:7.00 inches
This figure (my 4th custom...after this I think I can stop counting :D ) is from Marvel Comics new event: Fear Itself! The Serpent rains hammers down on Midgard, summoning beings powerful enough to become his Worthy!

A hammer falls on Yancy Street, and Benjamin Grimm- The Fantastic Four's Thing- picks it up, transforming into Angrir, the Breaker!

First, I applied a bright yellow wash over the entire figure. I then rubbed Fire orange, and Scarlet red into the cracks with my fingers (I like the low-tech approach.) This gave a nice fiery tone, to which I then applied a dry brush coat of Citadel Chaos Black, and then a wash of Tamiya Military Grey, being careful not to cover up the bright fiery colors.

While the figure dried, I sculpted the weird 'leech' thingies Angrir has covering his body, as well as started the armor. The leech creatures got a custom pinkish yuck color, and the armor pieces got a few layers of black, grey and then a dry-brush of mithril silver for a metallic 'cast iron' look. His 'loin cloth' is leftover from a ML X3 Jean Grey skirt, and his breast-plate was sculpted from Apoxie Sculpt (as was the rest of his armor). His symbol was printed out & applied as a decal.

A quick Dullcote application and some pics later, and voila:

Angrir walks the earth!!!

As always, looking forward to your feedback!!

Thanks for the help I ground down all the joints to prevent joint rub, I'll try to scrub them again. Did you sand or grind the joints?

I sanded them, cleaned them, and then sealed with super-glue. I then painted and resealed them to avoid rubbing off the new paint. Once the entire figure was painted, I did one last final coat of Testor's Dull-Cote. The thing can probably deflect bullets at this point lol...

Did the joints give you any problems? The paint won't stick on mine for some reason. I've ground them down and shielded with super glue, still peels and tears.

EXCELLENT CUSTOM by the way

Well, for the short time I had it in my hands, it seemed fine. Paint stuck on just fine after a good washing, and making sure I finished it with dull-cote. I tested the joints a bitafter a good 24 hr drying session, and it seemed to hold up fine. Maybe the joints needed a bit more scrubbing before the paint apps?
