Okay, here comes yet another figure in my Silver and Bronze Age Superboy collection, the Kryptonite Kid!

The Kryptonite Kid was a telepathic alien juvenile delinquent who was shot into space along with a dog and, after passing through a strange radiation cloud, was imbued with Kryptonite radiation, able to generate it from his body at will, fire bursts of it from his hands, and even imbue objects with K-radiation, effectively turning ordinary household objects into Kryptonite temporarily.

The figure was pretty easy to make. After first removing the cape and belt with my Dremel (I didn't have to do anything in regards to the head as I had already removed that and used it for my Silver Age Pete Ross figure, which you can also find here on the 'Realm...hint-hint, wink-wink, nudge-nudge), I set about using Milliput to create the pointed boot tops and to fill in the grooves from the chest symbol. Once the Milliput had dried, I sanded it smooth, and began working on the head. After removing Chameleon Boy's head from his body, I had to first clip off his antennae (ouch) and smooth those spots down. Once his head was smooth, I applied Milliput over his head to act as the Kryptonite Kid's skullcap. Once the Milliput for the skullcap had dried, I gently and carefully sanded it down, paying close attention around the ears so as to not damage them. As soon as this was complete, I Dremeled off the neck and drilled out a peg hole inside the head so that it could fit over the Superboy neck seemlessly. As far as the Superboy neck peg itself, I sanded that into a smooth peg for later.

The next step was to create the Kryptonite Kid's costume details. Using Milliput, I created the "straps" of the leotard and the wristbands. Once the Milliput had completely dried, I sanded it smooth and then after a few minor corrections to the shape of the costume with my razor knife and a little more sanding, began the painting process (It took about three or four coats of the red and green to cover up the original Superboy costume colors). Once the costume had been completely painted and the paint had dried, I used more Milliput to craft the belt. Once that had dried, I sanded it and painted it white.

The final step was the head. I had to slightly build up the neck with a small quantity of Milliput to make it capable of supporting the new head. Once this was completed and test fitted, I jammed a small glob of Milliput into the head cavity and then pushed the smooth neck peg into the Milliput to create a new peg hole (I told you I had to smooth out the neck peg for later...now you see why). Once the Milliput had dried, I used my Testor's Model glue to attach the head to it's new body (yes, I lost all neck articulation, but it was a small price to pay to get this one finished). After a bit of excess glue clean-up and some minor paint touch-ups, TA-DA, one of Superboy's greatest and deadliest enemies from the Silver and Bronze Ages, the Kryptonite Kid!!!!

Please check him out and let me know what you think. As always, comments are welcomed.
