In the 4th Books of Magic series by Neil gaiman, he shows a future version of the Fate Helmet that resembles a human skull. It would ultimately kill any of its worshipers that wear it. It no longer cares about the war between Order and Chaos and believes there is no meaning in life; just flesh and death.

This rendition of Doctor Fate illustrates a transitional stage between the skull-masked version of the distant future witnessed by Tim Hunter and the Phantom Stranger.

Recipe:
DCUC Black Adam (Body, arms, and upper legs)
DCUC Doctor Fate Varient (helmet, neck-collar with cape removed, lower legs)
LOTR RingWraith (hands)
Unknown McFarlane Figure (base, magnets added underneath rubber)
x4 Rare Earth magnets (added to the figures feet/sculpted over - attaches to the stand without needing pegs)

After seeing how well the Citadel red/flesh wash/black inks reacted to DC Universe plastics with my Black Adam, I went ahead with this concept. I'd wanted to create something like this since reading Gaiman's future-take on the character.

Painted with Vallejo acrylics, and all the gold areas were sealed with liquid Type Krazy glue to add a metallic reflection to them & to prevent paint rub. The Stand (since it's mostly rubber), I painted with Tamiya acrylics, as they adhere better to flexible plastics.

Using a large bristled brush (it almost felt like the tip of an old broom), I would mix small amounts of the red ink into bright, darker (red + flesh wash), and darkest (flesh wash ink + some black wash) and flick this at the figure in different ways to simulate blood spray. I painted the skull on the modified helmet by hand.

Hope you like him. Be sure to check out the comments thread for more large resolution pics. :)
