Nathan was a soldier in the Federal States of America armed forces, the FSA having risen out of the ashes of the USA after its economic collapse, until he lost his arm to a grenade. While on medical leave he was given a position with the FSA's R&D branch known as T.A.S.C. under the supervision of the famous Joseph "Super Joe" Gibson. Given the designation R.A.D #1, Research And Development subject 1, as he was the prototype Rad would become his nickname for years to come. It is during testing that the Imperial Army attacked with the aim of bringing Hitler back to life as their leader. During a secret mission Super Joe is captures and Spencer is sent in to rescue him. After rescuing Joe, who is later promoted to head of TASC, RAD continues to serve as more Bionic Commandos are created until the public and military turn on them fearing them which eventually plays a part in his death sentence and the events of Bionic Commando 2 for the Xbox 360. The base is from a DC Direct Alex Ross style Justice Society Sandman as is the legs above the knees. The lower legs are from a Halo Reach statue Emile figure and the knees retain movement, if not slightly loose at times. The gun and gun hand are from the Halo Reach statue's Jun figure. The upper body maintains movement at the waist thanks to a peg I installed. The upper body is a Movie Maniacs Aliens Hicks figure with the hair repainted the odd color Spencer has in BC, BC: rearmed 1 and 2. I thought I had glasses for him but I couldn't find them. The arm is from the poorly done NECA BC 2 figure with the cable from his back to the arm being from GI joe fodder as is the small connector going from his shoulder to the arm on his front. The arm no long has articulation. The cable going from the arm to the hand is just some steel cable I got for making armatures and I replaced the red lens thing in the center of the claw with a black one to show this is an early version of the arm. I never figured out why they had him wearing no armor other than the boots he gets so I made this one have armor and a better gun than just his normal pistol.
