Magneto (Removable Helmet) (Marvel Legends) Custom Action Figure
Custom #:2780
Name:Magneto (Removable Helmet)
Custom Type:Action Figure
Toy Series:Marvel Legends
Creator:Jin Saotome
Date Added:May 30, 2007
Base Figure:ML Moon Knight with Xorn unmasked head
Height:6.00 inches
After finding Xorn and removing his mask, I realized I needed to make a Magneto using that head. Only problem it was too small for the Hasbro body! Fortunatly Moon Knight/Bullseye's body fit the bill. I used Spider Woman's man-hands, Dr Doom's cape, and a ML3 Magneto Helmet to complete the image of more athletic Magneto. The base came from some Dusty Trails figure and I attached painted 'junk' to wire ties so they could be posed around and appeared levitating under him. Some hand-detailing and aibrushing later, Magneto was done and ready to terrorize the world!

What I do is make a firm but flexible mold out of "Freundliche Plastiche" - push some apoxie putty into the mold and slightly pull it open as the face is setting in its last 10 to 20 mins
You have to judge it Just right for the time to do so but it does let you expand the face diameter slightly
You do have to have some upper body strength and time to spare basically hold this position for 10-20 minutes while the cast sets - its actually tougher than it sounds
But hell of a workout
The other way to do it is use a plasticine mold or Carpenters Putty and pull it open slightly after you make your
initial impression with your subject then fill the mold making absolutely sure you don't smudge or screw up the mold

Rar! Thanks for the compliments! I'm gonna snag another Xorn eventually for another head and make myself one. I wonder if there's any sort of way to expand a mold after casting... instead of having it shrink?

well personally I love it. I don't see where the head looks too small, and even if it is in reality, it seems to fit ok when I look at it. I love figs with bases and need to get back to doing that myself. I say well done sir, good job!

Awesome - Although the head is small that is how they looked in the Jim Lee era. Look at psylocke, she had a mini body and head and legs up to her armpits! And don't get me started on Cyke they're iconic looks and this figure pulls of off beautifully!

even tho the head is a touch on the small side - the head sculpt is so evil looking that it actually fits the overall aesthetic of this body
Paint apps are sublime
Theres been plenty times in the 90s when proportional anatomy was thrown out the window and you had loads of people wondering about with huge over developed bodies and small heads
This custom is more in proportion than those drawings were
Superb work Jin

nice paint aps jin , but one complaint.... That head is 100% too small for that dude... and it makes it look weird even in the helmet... His calfs are even bigger than that head...lol.. reminds me of the shrunken head dude from beatle Juice.... But I bet you knew that and I bet you still rank in the doh anyhow.... GREAT WORK Jinsao
