Francis Cassel was a Local Missouri Blacksmith and small village Preacher when the American Civil War broke out - He served with distinction in the confederate army as a combat Chaplain and Soldier, awarded many times for his bravery but never taking a more active role or promotion
Administering Last rites to those he had slain and those slain by his enemy

God watched over him and he survived the war with barely a wound physically but a very wounded soul - sickened by what he had seen he moved away from an America he no longer recognised and founded a mission in a small village south of the Mexican border

There he lived the simple life, took a wife and had raised a loving family - he wanted to forget the war, but the war would not forget him...
For Cassel had killed the Brother of Captain Terrel - one of the most vicious "Redleg" commanders in the Union's employ

During the Mexican Festival of "Dia De Los Muertos" - "Day Of The Dead" with a 30 man strong loyal Redleg unit bolstered with 20 Comanchero mercenaries, Terrel razed Cassel's Church and his village to the ground, slaughtering Men, Women and Children including Cassel and his Family

Or so it would seem - Cassel lived - but barely

Using arcane medicines - He had been saved and nursed back to health by an old Shaman of Aztec descent - the only person in the village to never be one of his flock
The Old one demanded that those who died on "El Dia De Los Muertos" should be avenged....

In his delirium Cassel believed that God Himself was demanding Vengeance from him and that he was being asked to become God's Angel of Death...
The Wily Old shaman played on this perception and painted Frank's burned face with a Day Of The Dead Skull mask and infusing him with strength, speed and vitality from ancient Hallucinogenic herbs

Cassel dispassionately buried the entire town in a mass grave covered in Lime - this same lime he daubed his torn priestly vestments with.
Crudely drawing a skull on his chest.
Now everyone would be avenged but first he needed Weapons
He melted down the Crucifixes of his burnt church and fashioned a cavalry sword and a pair of huge, French Lemat-style handguns - each capable of firing 9 shots, each shot the equivalent of a shotgun round

And so armed Frank Cassel was no more...

Now grim prairie tales are told of "El Vengedor" - The Punisher
A tall, black garbed figure riding a white horse - A man who seemingly cannot be killed
Death himself - a grinning Skull for a face...Armed with massive guns that never miss their target and do tremendous damage
Tales tell of his clothes adorned with the severed Trigger finger bones of those he has slain - especially those that line his hat

Head was an Evil Dead Ash Williams from Macfarlane Movie maniacs given a face paint skull mask in the Day Of The Dead Festival style
LOTR capes, Real cloth black combat trousers and a few scratchbuilt made pistols (barrels are drinks straws), gunbelt (made from trimmed cape parts) with scratchbuilt skull belt buckle and hat (with fingerbone trim), were added to the base figure
His boiler plate body armour underneath his Skull poncho is made from card
His preachers collar was also made from card

I really like this figure! Original concept, and the execution was great.

Looks like you haven't been around the Realm in a long while, and we would love to see where your skills are at!

Glad you liked it
Yup he fought for the South then he headed even further south to escape his past, only for it to catch up to him and murder his family and nearly him
Thanks for the comment

I pretty much love the punisher - go figure, must have been the movie that sucked me in... and to use Ash (AOD is one of my favorite classic cult B movies)... so what a good marriage of sorts... I'm a big fan of tur scratchbuilt stuff because thats just amazing... cuz it's so tiny!

I'm giving the original white one in the pic to Mr X
Breyer horse is ok but needs something etc - anyone got any fodder for saddles camping equipment etc?
that'll flesh out the horse a bit more realistically - watching Quick & The Dead again I see theres a white horse in the towns Dia De Los Muertos Festival thats got a black horse's skeleton painted on it - think that'll look quite cool
I'm crafting two rifle holsters one either side of the horse outta pleather for his winchester and his customized 'gothicannic' sniper rifle...
Pics soon

Thanks to ToymakerB for the cool antiquated sniper rifle base
I'll get cracking on customising the rifle for the Version 2 of this
Anyone got any ideas for a better horse?
Wild West Punisher is 7" - so it has to be reasonably big
Does anyone know of a horse in that scale?

cool buddy, no offense meant, I have a bit of a collection of civil war era guns (real) and so I'm quick to correct people on the guns. I apologize, you have demonstrated repeatedly your extensive knowledge and research on weapons please forgive my uhem..hasty comments.
Yes, I do believe that John is descended from Bloody Bill, I know he (John) uses real actual drawings of the gatling guns (brown prints if you will) and I was pretty sure those were passed down via his family. Cool guy all the same and let me just tell ya, you can really have a gungasm ripping up the field with a field piece done in 1" caliber...holy buh buh buh buh buh batman!
See folks ^^^ a real life Kicka$$ priest called Greymonk - ex military man of war - now a man of the cloth
a bit like my frank
before anyone says anything - my lettering really sux LOL

Erm - I didn't mean to imply the Josie Wales Guns WERE Lemats 'monk buddy - sorry if thats what it read like
I know those were Remington smoke wagons in the clint film
And Anderson Guns - he's a descendant of Bill Anderson isnt he?
Bill Anderson is also in Josie Wales played by John Vernon

that's cool to know Dedi, but the guns Clint used in Jose Whales were big ol honkin' Remingtons - they couldn't get repro LeMats at the time although Pedersoli in Italy makes them now. (and real LeMats would have soaked up the budget as they are worth a small mint - even back then!) I know the guy that made the gatling guns for that movie. His name is John Anderson (Anderson Guns) in Dayton Ohio. I worked in his shop with him a couple of times - really cool guns! Although that movie is a personal fav of mine...but it's not for eating...it's just for looking through!

Marvel actually did do a Western Punisher story back in 1994 I think
It was called "A Man Called Frank" and quite Frankly ( oh no the pun-usher strikes) it was kinda disappointing
My backstory is kinda based on Outlaw Jose Wales but is still original and works in nicely why the Punisher would where a Skull at all ( the day of the dead festival) and not just go off and Avenge his family as a standard vengeance cowboy - Josie Wales style
Actually the character of Captain Terrel of the Unionist "redlegs" is actually the character that kills Josie Wales family in the Clint movie
And his huge 9 shot pistols "the Lemats" actually existed - they were meant to be mass produced for the southern forces - but only a very small number was ever made
If made in Bulk these pistols which delivered quickfire shotgun rounds in each chamber couldve turned the tide of the war in the Souths favour
I submitted this to Marvel a while ago as well as a Punisher/Ghostrider amalgam story called The PENANCE
heres the concept cover based loosely on the Speed Demon amalgam cover
In the Story the Penance could actually turn into the Hell Bike itself with his guns becoming hellcannon on either side of the bike
I'm using a similar design for an upcoming Custom - Lol you'll know it when you see it

I told you this was a prime choice to do well.
.01 from second place man that's close.
This is still my favorite custom on here. What can I say? I love the back story....and the punisher
I thought the back story was so good marvel should write (with your help) a mini seris on this. Marvel's done 1609 so why not do this?
Great job over all!!!

But this Punisher is the personification of Death - so he rides "a PALE HORSE" - a white horse
Just like the Bible reference in the first pic above from Book of Revelations - Apocalpyse
