This is part of a series of horror-themed Lantern Corp. members. In this wave, we have RL Jason, GL Ash and coming soon, Sinestro Corp. Predator. Next, will be Orange Lantern Leatherface, and Indigo Lantern Mike Myers.

Where to start… I invented a new kind of magnetic articulation involving Canadian pennies for this custom. To circumvent space restriction in swappable heads, and the downside of high-powered magnet-on-magnet attraction turning heads into fancy cut joints – I turned to pennies. Some years of Canadian 1 cent coins have nickel in them. Since nickel is magnetic, I’d trim down these thin discs of magnetic metal (using tin snips) and mount them inside the swappable heads. I then loaded the neck with a stack of Rare Earth Magnets (x3), and superglued each in place. The neck can still articulate, but stays on firmly – even enough to pick up the figure by its head.

I embedded magnets in the palms of each hand, and sculpted over them. In the Machete, I put a single magnet. In the ax shaft, I dremmeled out a thin space, and put a magnetic-friendly thin piece of metal inside, and sculpted over. Sculpted a Red Ring on to Jason's right hand.

I achieved the Metallic Red ring construct look by using Tamiya Lacquer Metal Red Flake. However, the same effect can be achieved with Tamiya Gunmetal with their red clear coat on top.

The whole figure was painted with Tamiya and Vallejo acrylics, and each head was washed with Citadel Sepia wash, and Fleshtone + red inks during the painting process. Sadly, the Citadel Inks are discontinued, and mine are running low. They’re perfect for simulating blood, and have a great flow rate.

Sealed any rub-prone areas with Krazy glue (liquid type). The figure completely sealed with Citadel spray (minus the soft jacket!), then Vallejo Matte Varnish to give it a really nice finish.

Be sure to check out the extra pictures posted in the comments thread.

Hope this post isn’t information overload. A lot of work went into this guy, but it’s an excellent figure to handle/pose as a result. Hope you like him.

This Jason (and Ash) belong to the same fellow who bought my original Freddy. If I finish my Sinestro Freddy v2 (using parts from the new NECA freddy reboot), I'll shoot a few before they're mailed out. Thanks for the compliments!
