If you don't remember Thundarr, you likely aren't a child of the 80s. Before Blackstar or He-man hit the airwaves, another barbarian warrior ruled Saturday mornings, paving their way. Thundarr borrowed heavily from all the popular fantasy, horror and sci-fi of the arly 80's and blended them into something kids like me couldn't resist. Imagine Conan running around in a Road Warrior, post apocolyptic future weilding a lightsaber - plus throw in an exotic sorceress and faithful Chewbaca-like companion and what's not to love? WB finally made all 21 episodes available on DVD - check it out.

I saw Stocos28 had done something similar with the mu 3 3/4 figures and wanted try my own rendition. Doc Sampson provided the base. I used sculpty to create the fur tunic, arm bracers and transparent sculpty for the "sunsword". Hope to get around to Ookla and Ariel soon.

1/17 UPDATE - finished the whole gang, see new pics...

Very Cool!! I remember Thundar from back in the day! Ahh the memories I thought it was Legends size till I read the description. Great job on all 3 customs! I picked up a Sampson myself for a future custom.

I do like the translucent Sculpty - it was my first time using it. It is a little harder to knead at firms but once it softens works just like regular Sculpty. The blue accents were done with a wash of metalic sky blue. Gives the blade a shimmer and makes the details pop in a darker blue.

I've never used the translucent sculpy. Do you like it? And how did you
Active the blue color? Did you mix paint into the sculpt? Awesome work.
I loved that series.

Thanks for the feedback. I actually sculpted hair that matched the 80s "Bruce Jenner" bowl cut that Thundarr had in the toon but in the end decided it was time he let his hair grow out like a true barbarian. I have a pic of that below...

That's pretty cool man, I know the perils of sculpting at this scale and you've pulled it off brilliantly, I particularly like the sword.
