Staras: The Dark Star Pokemon

Staras is a Pokemon I created for a fan-made contest that was held in youtube asking for a new pokemon that would appear in Black & White (this was right before the new game came out). Amazingly, I won! My video is still up on utub if you want to search it for more info on Staras.


Staras (Pronounced "Star" "US"; get it? First "Star" "YOU" then "Star" "ME"and now "Star" "US") is evolved from a Starmie by use of a Dusk Stone. Staras is a Psychic/ Dark type. The back star legs have evolved to look more like a brittle star's. The front star legs have armored tips. The jewel is a star shape with ten brackets to hold it on to Staras. [Staryu has a pearl with 6 brackets and a leg harness, and Starmie has an octagonal jewel cut with 8 brackets.)

I handcrafted this figure from scratch (no molds or base!)with sculpey, and attached some wires to the back with hot-glue. The back legs are super-posable, can stretch out to make the entire figure 7 inches long! Entire figure was painted with GW Citadel paints.

A lot of people argued that I shouldn't take the Water type away from this pokemon family line, but I thought all Pokemon can have only 2 types at any one time. As I was looking for the "all-powerful, creepy alien from space, watch out hot japanese high school girls" type of look, I decided that Dark/Psychic was much more ominous than any combination with Water.
