(2099) Hulk 2099 (Marvel Legends) Custom Action Figure
Custom #:2554
Name:(2099) Hulk 2099
Custom Type:Action Figure
Toy Series:Marvel Legends
Creator:Bob-A-Ferret
Date Added:May 7, 2007
Base Figure:ML FO Hulk
Height:9.00 inches
This custom proved quite the challenge for me. I used a ML FO Hulk body and rebuilt his hands and toes to give him the correct digets. As for the head I made a new neck and used a DCD Killer Croc Head that I smoothed downand built up a nose. And here is a new one for all of you his hair is actually porcipine quills I incerted and baked into sculpty, and painted black. So anyone else kill a porcipine to make a toy hmmmmm. Didn't think so. LOL. I then added a magnetic tounge so he can have a long tounge and ashort one so the mouth can close.

For those of you who don't know who this is here you go.

John Eisenhart was a studio executive for Lotusland Productions, researching the Knights of Banner, migrant worshippers of the Hulk. The Knights of Banner had been experimenting with gamma rays, hoping to create a new Hulk. After the Knights refused to sell their story to him, Eisenhart reported them to the police. As the police arrived, a battle ensued leading to the capturing and slaughter of many knights. Eisenhart, wracked with guilt, joined the Knights in their fight. A young knight the studio exec had befriended named Gawain tried to end the violence by killing everyone by setting off the gamma devices, only to have his new ally caught in the blast. The blast transformed Eisenhart into a new Hulk, who quickly ended the battle. Upon returning to Lotusland, the studio executive was assigned to investigate a new desert creature (himself).

During his investigation, Eisenhart/Hulk would meet a singer/songwriter named Quirk. She would join Eisenhart/Hulk in his search for Gawain, who had been captured during the initial battle. The search would last for the duration of the Hulk's 2099 Unlimited appearances, with the young knight being rescued.

Gawain's salvation would be short-lived, as he would die at the hands of the villain Draco at the start of the Hulk 2099 series, fueling Eisenhart/Hulk with guilt and remorse throughout the rest of the series over his broken vow to protect the young knight. In addition to Draco, the Hulk would face other villains throughout the series (Golden One, Cybershaman, Dr. Apollo, Anti-Hulk). The Hulk would meet his demise at the barrels of guns of the post-Doom S.H.I.E.L.D., dying after being shot by an unspecified energy in 2099 A.D. Apocalypse.

Actually Monk your probabably pretty close to the problem I used a mix of testors and tamiya paints and used a green wash to add shadowing and in person it looks pretty good a tiny bit shiny but no big deal. However the pics it looks like hes dripping in laquer or something. But like I said I am still looking for a better shade of green. and yeah I don't have a citeadel paints avaliable and I am not big into internet purchase that are not Company related but I might break down and do so soon anyway as I am finding more and more of my figs are to glossy.

Well I have found that sometimes if I do an enamel wash over acrylic base paints, it leaves a glossy coating. Now this can be handy at times, but it can also yield unpleasant results. It's most likely to occur if you paint the base with testors acrylic and then wash it with a darker testors enamel. Is that what happened? (not an indictment, just trying to compare notes here...)
Usually if I do an acrylic wash over an acrylic base coat It stays flat (assuming they are flat colors to begin with) but let a day or two pass between the process otherwise a water based wash will remove some of the base coat. I also find some things that are very handy for washing: Tandy Leather dye - comes in a variety of colors and it's alcohol based. (please don't drink it, it's the make you blind kind of alcohol!), Various types of ink. this can be expensive and you have to experiment some with it, but most india based inks will thin out of your brushes with rubbing alcohol. I was trying to remember if it was yo that said you didn't have access to citadel paints etc.

well, I like glossy paint jobs...and it does make him look slimy...and I think Gene Simmons would be proud you used his tongue as reference! Great job...I didn't vote on any of the contest entries because I didn't think I should since I didn't have an entry into the contest. I recently attended a motorcycle show and only the people who had something in the contest could vote. wonder if that would work here? I doubt it...but anyways...great work Ferret.

I rather like it too. I can't imagine how long it took you to apply (install?) each individual quill but the effect is really cool. I know the pic makes the thing look real glossy but my buddy the Wraith has a few customs that did that when pics were taken but in person they don't look like that at all. Obviously I'm no photographer so I can't explain what makes that happen but I know what you are saying regarding the gloss.

First thanks for all the comments and the votes. I appreciate them more than you know.
Thank you all for noticing the tongue it was a last minute change but it made the figure that much cooler in my opinion too.
I am not happy with the color either and will probably redux it soon. However when I asked for opinions and help on the paint when I was making it the best help I got was to paint it purple and make the incredible KronK2099. So a couple of you could have helped me more back when I was making this. As is I have yet to see a better Hulk2099 out there anywhere I am content until I get some real help finding the right color green. So please help me find the right shade and realize I don't have access to Vallejio or Citedael paints (unless you want to send a bottle to me) I have to use Tamiya and Testors it is what I have access to. I do think that the flash makes it look glossier than it actually is as it isn't quite that glossy in person.
Yes I did kill a porcipine for real as I don't like them living in my backyard, and I mean like opening my back door and I might step on them. I kill racoons and other vermin when they intrude on my premises too. Rabies is a real threat and I pefer not to have it. I don't like killing animals I don't go hunting or anything like that but I will kill them when I need to. But when I kill something I use all of it including quills and bones. Anyone want a knife withe skull pressed into the handle??? I thought the quills made for awesome hair and was very original as I doubt any of you would even attempt to do this. (though I don't blame anyone I pricked myself over three dozen times doing so.)

Thats a cool effect man
what did you use?
Looks like black-painted Astroturf or Butchers window display Grass
I dunno why a Butcher would have grass - but there you go
I dig this -especially the head and tongue - but a mat finish might look better

Dangerous or delicious animals only! I really like the figure, the removable tounge was a really good idea.

Unless that porcupine tried to kill you or your woman, there's no excuse for killing it ~_~
He looks slimy, give it a matte finish and instant coolness! (unless he's supposed to be slimy :P )

The paint job is good. I like the tongue addition and the spikes on the back look awesome. (but you didn't actually kill a porcupine, did you?!) But still, great job.
