One of the oldest henchmen of Skeletor, a valuable strategist in combat, he is one of the few Oceanors capable to breath outside water, also he is able to communicate and control some creatures from Eternia seas.
His race is one of the oldest true Etrenian species, living in the Eternia seas, the Oceanors, are a race of Fish-Men, that have prospered underwater, and they like to pass unnoticed, they have made their cities in the deepest valleys of the ocean floor. They have many treasures stored in their cities, but the seas of Eternia are so dangerous that no one have ever tried to reach them.
Mer-Man is a member of the royal family of the Oceanors, he conspired to dethrone the King and become ruler of the seas, but he failed and was banned to the surface.
Although he was able to steal the Royal Staff, he allied with Skeletor to start his Evil Warriors, but his must deep desire is to go back to his home and be proclaimed King of the Oceanors.
