This is my depiction of the cover to "The Walking Dead" issue #19. It is the human survivor Michone with her boyfriend and his best friend (who are zombies and who I named Joel and Mortimer). She has survived with them as company since the outbreak. She "removed" their arms and jaws to prevent them from grabbing, scratching or biting her. She keeps them on collars and chains and their presence seems to keep other zombies from attacking her.
How they were made:
Michone - Using a Wasp as base I swapped her lower legs with those of a ML Deathstrike for flat shoes. I sculpted boots, pant cuffs, the vest top, and her dreadlocks from Apoxie Sculpt. Her skirt, belt and vest bottom are foamie sheets. The belt has a sculpted buckle and rhinestones glued to it. Her ratty jacket was hand made and the seams were ripped to simulate weathering. Her sword is made of a skewer and held in her hands (as well as the chains) by magnets
Joel - Joel was a Falcon that has seen better days. Every inch of him has had some custom sculpting done from his hair that is falling out to his severed jaw to his exposed ribs and intestines to his torn jeans and his bare feet. Every painting technique I can think of I used on Joel. His skin was given a base grey coat and then a flesh tone was dry brushed over it. His pants got a base of black and a dry brush of blue and then white in areas with "wear". His ribs were made from package wire and his intestines where made from wire insulation. His wounds were painted with clear red, a brown wash and sfx blood makeup. He retains all of his articulation (well except for his arms).
Mortimer - My fiancee made him from an Antman with a Deadpool head. His body was sanded down and sculpted over. Her painting technique was slightly different from mine. She started with the main colors and then went over with darker shades in the different areas for added detail. I did the same for the blood effects on him though.
Both of the zombies collars are foam painted silver with the chain glued on.

That series is really awesome. I can't wait for the 6th graphic novel to come out so I can see what happens to Rick, Glen, and Michone.
