The great beast Dracaena was said to be a legend, and nothing more- A monster told of to little ones so that they didn't attempt to escape the plasticine domes that kept them alive and away from the poisonous air of the outside world. No one dared believe a creature like that could exist- part alien, part human, part machine. Maybe something like it had once existed, but in the millennia since New Earth was colonized, since the legend had existed, it must have died. It had to have died.

And XXXI, that poor noble soul of the nearby city of Extrifius. A mechanic by trade, always longing to venture into and colonize the world outside the bubble, into the poison and hellish death that ironically made this planet habitable to those inside the dome. He didn't start as a number, though. His name was Jid, and he was the favorite mechanic of kings and noblemen. He was the best there was. Some said that he had even successfully invented an apparatus that let him breathe in the deadly fog. But of course, that was rumor, and impossible.

When Jid was attacked by mercenaries of a country who, on principle, Jid could not help the warlike efforts of, he was torn limb from limb, his face left horribly disfigured, and his body left outside the safety of the bubble-city. It is said he was the 31st victim in the war that followed shortly, but truly he was no casualty. As rumor would again assert, Jid was able to live just long enough to crawl back to his home and merge himself with his machines. Knowing the danger he was in, it is said, he left his home, bringing only his breathing apparatus and a small weapon, and left to find the only other chimera on this world.

Legend continues, saying that he not only found Dracaena, but tamed her to be his beast through true acceptance and friendship- that these outcasts of the world found a bond strong enough to weather the mists and monsters of New Earth. Some even say that together, they watch over the world, protecting it from warlike nations through vengeance.

It would all just be legend, of course.

Except for that set of footprints I found not a week ago alongside the destroyed bomb factory of Ghevish.

XXXI: Base figure, Namor, the rest, Fodder, sculpting over the hair and boots, accessories came from a Spiderman figure, foddered it up, repainted with non-gloss acrylics.

Dracaena: Mash of Ultima Online Great Wyrm, FF7 Cerberus, and various Spawn animals. Spray painted with textured dark green and silver and black, detailed with silver.

Base: Box lid, real branches and twigs and grass and moss and what have you.
