This is my ultimate version of Tim Burton's Mad Hatter, made from the small Medicom figure (un-customized figure is the first pic in the brown suit). The main problem with the official figure is that it is more of a statue, with absolutely no joints or poseability. A Mad Hatter that can't even do the slightest Futterwakken? Complete madness! I basically hacked the figurine up into many, many pieces. I tried to keep as many parts from the original figure as possible, and incorporated pieces from two other figures to give him poseable joints and accessories; the collar and upper body were basically hollowed out so the new neck and shoulders could be fitted into the torso and the gaps stuffed with epoxy. I also added a swivel joint into the new upper arms. His socks are fabric painted with fabric markers, and conveniently hide his knee and calf joints. I also figured I would go all out and give him a removeable hat and hair, unfortunately this involved cutting his hat off of his head just above the eyebrows (which I ended up shaving off entirely and resculpting myself, they were WAY too big)....I then sculpted the missing head with epoxy, and dremeled him out a neck joint! I figured while I was at it, he may as well have his battle outfit. Kilts and Swords! Yay! As well as a new all-over paintjob, far more detailed and movie accurate. Alot more fine details added as well, like his arrow pin, pincushion ring, thimbles, claymore, ect. And there you go! A completely poseable Mad Hatter, just in time for tea! Calloo Callay! Recipe: Original Hatter pieces; Head Torso (Coat, Bandolier, Tie and Vest) Coat Cuffs Hat Boots Teacup and saucer Lady Deathstrike pieces; Neck and ball joint wrist joints became Hatter's upper arm joints legs (feet cut off at ankles) ears Harry Potter pieces; shoulder joints elbows and forearms hands Other; fabric for kilt unravelled wool for hair fabric for socks various small ribbons LOTR sword, modified lace for wrist cuffs ![]() |

My heart is now as big as the moon, and as warm as bathwater!
I love how you made the hair, it really looks good on the figure. the socks and the kilt looks great too! and the way that you've made a figure into a poseable one, that's a big plus for me!
and LOL at the futterwakken.. haha! is that what he call his dance? haha! that's great. I'm sure with his poseability right now, he can do that dance anytime he wants.
my only gripe here is the grainy pictures. it would help a lot if you could take the figure out and use the sun's natural light for taking the pics instead of using a flash or just taking picture indoors.
I use the camera on my cellphone to take pics of my customs outdoors and I think it works ok.
now back to the figure, it looks great man! you've done some great work here, I hope others would also notice how good this custom is. anyways, I'll give it a high score!
