Spider-Man 2099 (Spider-Man) Custom Action Figure
Custom #:22501
Name:Spider-Man 2099
Custom Type:Action Figure
Toy Series:Spider-Man
Creator:abeam
Date Added:June 19, 2010
Base Figure:HML Black Costume Spider-Man
Height:6.00 inches
This started as a Spidey 2099 based off of the new Spider-Man game coming out "Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions" but I was unable to execute that texture that the spidey in the game has so I settled for a hybrid of that Spidey and the comic's spidey. The colors for sure are from the comic's but the style of the insignia and mask are of the video game's.

I plan to make another Spidey that is completely made to look exactly like Spidey 2099 in the Shattered Dimensions game.
Does anyone have any techniques that may give it the same texture like the Spidey from the game or even give the illusion of the texture?

that is a great custom. I have been approaching how to do one based on the original 2099. This is sweet looking. as for the texture? I think you have the right idea with mesh screening. but you need to look for the kind of mesh used to strain stuff out of water. try a lowes or home depot. They have stuff thats super fine and might work how you want it to.

Awesome Spider-Man 2099, it's always been one of my favorite Spidey costume designs, and you did it justice.

I agree that could be a lot of work. Now I'm psyched as this spiderman is voiced by the guy who was spiderman in the 80s with his super friends and bumblebee on G1 transformers.

I'm not a fan of anything 2099, but this is well done. I always like to see raised costume elements.
As far as the texture on the game version, that'd be really tough. It looks a lot like the texture on the blue parts of movie spiderman. So if you're REALLY dedicated to doing it, I'd say take a piece of sculpt and press it hard against the biggest part of movie spider man you with that texture (probably his thighs), until you have a mold of the texture. Then you'd have to completely cover the 2099 figure in sculpt, which would require grinding a lot of his present mass down to avoid him being too big with the added sculpt, then sculpt in muscle, wait for it to cure a bit, and then use your mold to press in the texture.
Personally, I think that sounds like a HUGE pain in the @$$, but it would probably look really cool if done right.
