If you were a kid from the 80's then you have to have been affected by the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Even if you didn't like any of the 4 distinctive green brothers, then there was at least one obscure sidekick you could associate yourself with. For me it was Ace Duck. If memory serves me correctly he only appeared in one episode and it was extremely brief. However, the figure (the one and only) came out with the first run of figures. When I received this guy, I was blown away. Now that I am older I still hold a place in my heart for Ace. However, I am older. This is my reasoning for giving Ace a bit more current look, while still retaining some of the old plastic charm. I chose to use major parts from the original figure and mix them with current, more articulated figures. Every duck will have his day and today, it belongs to Ace.

Recipe:
Head, hands and feet- TMNT Ace Duck (Feet were given X-2 Nightcrawler feet pegs to add articulation and swivel in the ankles. Hands were splice with ULt. Fury's pegs to add swivel and bending)

Body and jacket arms - Ult. Nick Fury (Feathers, tail, sleeve patches and pants cuffs were sculpted with aves fix-it)

Jacket- Movie Wolverine (Sculpted medals with aves and filled the slot in the back with green stuff)

Gun- Reservoir Dogs Figure

Holster- Tom Jane Punisher

The news boy cap was my big change to the figure. I felt that the old pilot cap made him feel dated and I wanted a more "street fighter" look for Ace. I covered his head in seran wrap and sculpted the hat over so it could be removable, much like the original figure.

I chose to leave out the wings. I know to some this may seem like a poor choice, but he seemed to look great without them and I didn't feel like using a cheap gimmick to make him stand out would be worth it. I hope all of you enjoy looking at Ace as much as I did making him.
Painted head to duck flippers with Model Master Acryl paints.

I was looking through some old contests and came across your custom. You did a great job updating Ace and bringing him into the modern age. I have to agree with your choice to leave out the wings. Eve as a kid I thought it was silly for him to have both arms and separate wings. If he's an anthropomorphic duck shouldn't his arms be his wings like with Donald, Daffy and Howard?

I like it, I mean I woulda loved to have seen the removeable wings to go with the figure, but I love the rest of it.
