Death dealer/molly hatchet album cover

I've loved this painting from the moment I first saw it on a molly hatchet record album. I don't really recall
When the specific time that was, but I also remembered the artist's named being signed... 73 frazetta.
Frank frazetta, the most revered and beloved fantasy artist in our modern times, if not forever. He is entitled to be called master and icon and living legend. Frazetta's 1973 painting of the deathdealer is beloved by rockstars, bikers, tattoo artists,
We've seen his images reproduced over the years on the sides of vans and the hoods of funny cars, to motorcyle tanks
And tailgates. Molly hatchet used the death dealer painting for their debut album in 1978.

Ingredients: the horse was $5. I had to break the neck and reposition and sculpt it to be more horizontal.
I added a saddle from a different horse and had to modify it and the harness. The horse collar was buttons.
The blanket is vinyl.
I sculpted some on the feet of the horse and cut the horse's tail to make it resemble the painting.
The figure is a dcuc ares figure with sculpted helmet and punched out holes for the chainmail armor and
Other details. Vinyl for the boot shinguards and googly eyes on the boots and the chestplate.
The cloak was cut out and painted leather.
The skirt was black fabric with holes punched out for the chainmail and glued down.
The shield was cut out of bristol board paper and sculpted over.
The reaper axe was made the same way and attached to a wooden dow rod.
The sword was from a hellboy ii prince nuada figure, with sculpted hilt and a legendary conan sheath. It can be
Removed/attached magnetically to the back of the belt.
Other accessories include: a painted background, a custom base, a pullover shirt, a teeth/bone necklace
And a head from a pict native(made from an asorbing man head cast)

Sadly, Frank Frazetta has passed away today(May 10th, 2010) at the age of 82...but His Legacy will continue

Dude. Above and beyond diamama. I like your depiction of the helemt horns better than the DST statue, I think yours look more like the way they are shaped in the painting, longer and curving downward and in front of the helmet a little bit.

Thanks for taking up for me REDMIST...LOL! I did miss the point of the contest...we were supposed to make a custom figure based on a MUSICIAN. I read all the rules and still thought the contest was make "ANY CUSTOM AS LONG AS IT RELATES TO THE WORLD OF MUSIC" ... so, my bad on that part. Thanks to the commentors who pointed that out. I didn't mean for it to be controversial for the contest, so I asked the moderator to remove it from the voting competition. THAT BEING SAID...IT'S BEEN REAL AND IT'S BEEN FUN! AND YOU KNOW THE REST...I'M GONE!

I disagree w/the previous comments. Except 4 sephiroth's(I've no proof of wheather u ok'd this or not! ) I think this can fly because it hails from music (?) It's from an album cover like the zombie dude from Iron Maiden...I mean he's not a member of the band, right? There are other examples like the baby from Van Halen's 1984 album, the car from the ZZ Top Eliminator album...These images are representing the band and they kinda become synonymous, dig?
Now: Great job, homie! Right out the ballpark!

I can see where the creator was coming from entering this into the contest. He's on the cover of an album.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, I LOVE your work here, and the time and effort you put in on the horse really shows! I think you should be able to hold onto this one for a future contest, because this guy is a clear contender for the right cause!
Plus I have to say this is easily my favourite death dealer custom, and I've seen some good ones! your paint work really sells the realism here that would make Frazetta proud!

Unfortunately, I have to agree. It is great work, but rules is rules.

I think you're missing the point here. Your Death Dealer is a bloody awesome figure, but I don't think he has ever been a member of any solo act, band or group. As the rules state: "Any musician and any scale"
I mean I would love to hear the album he would put out... I imagine something in the vein of Death-Metal, but until then...
