After Making my second Joker, I knew two things: my old Jail Joker wasn't a proper look-alike, and that it was terrible. So the first thing I did was sand down the thug head, leaving nothing but a ball with two eye sockets. I painted the eyes the same way, bloodshot, but this time made him look out to the side. After finishing the sculpting of the head and painting, I decided he looked too clean, even with his makeup in smears. So I took some acrylic and covered his face and hair so he looked sweaty like in the scene. Next came the body. The idea of making that shirt had me so nervous I postponed it for a few weeks, until finally manning up and getting to it. I cut off the area of the suit jacket where the wrists covered the hands, then sanded, so he looked like he was in a dress shirt instead. I cut off the tie and sculpted his collar, then resculpted in a tie. After painting the vest, front and back, their respective colors, then painting the tie, which I think I did a good job on considering the strange pattern, I knew it was time to actually paint his shirt. I sat at my desk trying to find the best color for the sleeves, deciding on some weird-named paint from a hobby shop that is pretty fitting, I think. Then I spent hours on end every day painting with the end of a thumbtack, and every time the shapes got too small or too big, I'd repaint. Finally, I ended, after three days and an accumulated twelve hours, and drybrushed a darker blue and put on acrylic to make it silky looking. The only part of this custom that isn't originally a Gotham City Thug is the feet, those of the original Joker Movie Master. ![]() |
