While spell checking "Extremis" in google, I noticed the origins of the phrase 'in extremis': in the farthest reaches" or "at the point of death". A suitable (pun!) title for a new version of the HULKBUSTER Iron Man armor.

This figure was made from a ML Hulkbuster, modified as follows:

-Removed the original mustached Tony Stark head, and replaced it with a Marvel Select Extremis Iron Man head. The figure's head was already over sized, but was perfect for this size of armor. The figure's original helmet 'hatch' still closes with the new head installed. :)

-Using a hair dryer, I heated up the right hand, and shaped the fingers/thumb into a permanent fist. Afterward, I applied extreme cold to the newly shaped plastic, then liberal amounts of gel type superglue to fix it in place. Since this armor was designed to bust Hulks, it needed at least one hand that wasn't molded into a permanent 'high five!'

-Removed both fore arm shield-guards. Based on every piece of reference art I could find for the HulkBuster series armor, the original Toybiz figure's shields were on backwards.

-Repainted the whole figure with Vallejo acrylics (various mixtures of red, gold, and bronze), then did the fine line work with Citadel paints and washes (black, sepia, and flesh wash). The figure seemed a little too 'clean' looking to be battling hulks, so I also added various combination's of of gunmetal/silver.

To finish it, I sealed any areas where paint rub could become an issue (inside the newly-black hatch-lid, etc.) with liquid-type superglue, and the entire figure in Vallejo matte finish varnish.

This figure was one of the few finished custom figures I brought with me to Korea when I moved overseas to teach English in November 2009. I hope you like him as much as I do. ^_^

Thanks guys. Hulkbuster Iron man was pretty popular at my FANEXPO 2009 booth last year. Although ... people kept calling him "Juggernaut-Iron Man".

This is quite nice, but what puts it over the edge is its paints!
