Set during the aftermath of an apocalyptic pandemic, the game pits its four protagonists — dubbed the "Survivors"— against hordes of the infected which take the form of fast-moving zombies. Here's a breakdown of what when into making the four "survivors" and one zombie from the Left4Dead videogame: -Tons of references: Scouring google and various mod sites for screen shots, game art (see WiP Shot) and video game textures / character model skins. -Testor ink jet decal paper (both transparent and white/opaque) -Vallejo Paints & varnishes -Krazy Glue (to seal figures before varnishing - allows figures to be playable toys) -Gel Type Superglue (part connection -Various soft-plastic fodder and Citadel "green stuff" for bendable bits (collars, shirt flaps, etc.) -All GI JOE parts are from 25th Anniversary -> onward figures. All fodder and figures used are are from the 3.75" scale unless otherwise noted. :::FRANCIS Recipe: Burly biker dude with a goate, a scowl and a shotgun. -Build and Brawl Jakks figure (legs/hips/waist) -Indiana Jones Mutt Williams figure (jacket, boots) -Wolverine movie Weapon X figure (lower & upper chest, arms) -Import 'Hot Toys' ALIENS Colonial marine figure (hands) -GI JOE movie "Duke" figure (head) -Testor inkjet decals + modified L4D player textures from 'francis' used to make his tattoos in-game accurate. -The rest is made using Aves sculpt (undershirt, other details, face sculpt) -Shotguns came from random GI JOE movie figure + Terminator Salvation 3.75" figure :::Zoey Recipe: Attractive girl in a pink runner's jacket with rolled up jean cuffs and a ponytail. -GI JOE Movie 'Cover Girl' figure -Largely re-sculpted body and hair. Added bangs using pieces of flexible LOTR figure hair. -Added collar from piece of flexible plastic, Sculpted jacket, legs and pants -Build and Brawl Jakks figure (shoes) -Small rectangle of flexible rubber added into she to give shoes a tongue that stuck up. -Handguns and Sniper Rifles from various GI JOE / 'Joe Movie figures ::: Louis Recipie: Black guy with a partially undone red tie and untucked dress shirt. Ripped left pant leg, and holster on right leg. -GI JOE Astronaut figure(upper/lower torso, arms) -DC Infinite Heroes Commissioner Gordon(legs/pelvis) -Wolverine Origins Soldier Wolverine(holster) + fodder for straps -Dremmeled away pant leg and put a thin/long screw through the leg to strengthen thinned down left leg. -Resculpted shirt collar, sleeves, and shirt to give a more distressed/dress shirt look. -NECA Hitman 6" figure (back part of tie became main tie piece, fodder for the rest) -SMG weapons from various GI JOE Movie figures ::: Bill Recipe: Aged looking veteran with an "8" on his Berrie and an assault rifle. -GI JOE Flint (Head, left leg, lower right leg) -Terminator:Salvation Marcus (jacket) - modified with Citadel 'Green Stuff' -Indiana Jones Mutt Williams (Arms, Torso) - Torso modified to be articulate on a regular 'joe Pelvis -Unknown 25th Anniversary GI JOE (upper left leg, forearms) -Import Anime figure (holster) + fodder for straps) -Resulpted pants, shirt cuffs, and face. -Beret hat's "8" logo taken from in-game texture and applied using Testor inkjet decal paper. -GI JOE Red Guard (modified assault rifle) ::: Zombie Infected (Military) Created from remaining parts. -GI JOE Flint (Torso/arms) -Import 'Hot Toys' ALIENS Colonial marine figure (Legs/boots) -Wolverine Origins Weapon X (head) - resculpted hair and face -Unknown Anime figure (left hand) :::Accessories - All guns, the case, and came from various GI JOEs. GI JOE 'Cover Girl'(Medpack, fits Zoey or Louis) - sculpted from Aves with a game-texture logo using Testor decals. :::Playset: I honestly have no idea. I purchased it some time ago in a lot of items on a website. I added various layers of washes and paint to the doors, fence and trash can. Then using a mixture of Citadel red, black, and sepia washes, I added multiple blood splatters, hand prints, and dried pools to the set. The loading bay door can open and close, the fence is re-positionable/removable, as is the crane-polls with alternate 'back alley' wall. There's three foot pegs on the set which allows GI JOE-scale figures to stand or lean about in a variety of awesome poses. I'll post a link to more photographs of this set, including turn-arounds for each figure once the contest is complete. This project was a blast to make! I hope everyone likes it - Happy Halloween. :) ![]() |

Typically, NECA figures are about 7"-8" tall, and cost around $20. A custom action figure is significantly more expensive. Hope this helps --Blayne
Thanks for all your votes everyone! I'm glad people liked this figure set. It made me really happy to find out (from an internet room in South Korea) that the figures I entered to the Post Apoclyptic contest scored so well - both Gold and Silver! Woo! World's end-style figure are my favorite sub-genre.
