If you're aiming to use sculpting material, I'd highly recommend Aves 2-part epoxy sculpt. It has a few hours worth of drying time, and can be sanded and carved into once dried.
For sculpting before a material sets, and for carving into it afterward, I'd highly recommend investing in a wood carving knife set. They're usually under $25 at any hardware store.

Hey! I can recognize him, good job! 2 points, though. I think you could have smoothed it out a bit more because it looks rough, either with ur finger before it dried or with a dremmel or sander afterwards (before painting). Also, the monacle needs to be more prominent, you can't really tell if its there or not!
