Scorpia (She-Ra) Custom Action Figure
I have considered customizing the vintage She-Ra action dolls for a while now as the animated series created some uniquely designed heroines and villainesses. Yet the toy line removed said designs far away from the swords and sorcery setting of the animated series producing dolls that would only fit in atop a My Little Pony. Scorpia here is my all time favourite She-Ra character and never made it into the original toy line for two reasons. As the action dolls were made for a girl market I guess Mattel considered the likes of Flutterina (half lady/half butterfly) more "girl friendly" then Scorpia here, who as part scorpion is perhaps a bit too spikey. Secondly her helmet meant no flowing hair to comb and braid which was a key feature to the She-Ra dolls. This figure began life as one of the vintage She-Ra figures which I chose as to create that retro look that makes any child of the 80s like myself feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I followed the styling from the animated series. Her tail came from a Spider-Man scorpion figure with a sting that I sculpted to create a more organic form. All other detailing was sculpted with Apoxie Sculpt. This included adding some weight to her brow to giver her a more menacing look which as a servant of Hordak is vital. I tried hard to resist the urge to dry-brush the heck out of her as I wanted her to have that 80s figure simplicity. Saying that after painting I did submit to a black wash to add some depth. Have some more She-Ra dolls that depending on the popularity of this one I may just render into other characters. Please wait... |

I really like what you've done, and her colours are amazing. Love the tail especially!
I was recently delighted when I saw the new MOTU Classic Adora they're doing. I think your Scorpia could beat the crud out of her even when He-Man
